Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. - Reliability complaints and reviews...Samsung series 650 Hd Television6/22/2010I purchased a Samsung TV in Dec of 2009. In January of 2010 the picture began to be dark for a few minutes when firsast turned on but this did not concern me. By March it was lasting much longer and was intermittent. I called Samsung and was simply told that it was out of warranty but they would make a record of it. I was also given the Name of a repair facility nearby. I found that the LCD screen was shot and needed to be replaced to the tune of $700. It is quite apparent that I bought a lemon but have no recourse. My expectations were not met at all. The product and the service were very poor. Samsung LCD TV4/17/2010To all who don't want to be taken advantage of by Samsung: Our 3 year old 42" Samsung LCD TV is now worth nothing due to a malfunction that does not allow the TV to turn on. The TV will continuously play the "friendly, uplifting" Samsung chime and then begins its never ending automatic shutdown and turn on that can only be stopped by unplugging the TV. After contacting Samsung about the issue, which is well documented through other on-line postings, I was told that Samsung was sorry for the inconvenience. I am not bothered to take my TV to get fixed or to have a repair person come and diagnose the problem. The "inconvenience" that I am immensely frustrated with is the fact that I have been robbed for almost $2,000 for a TV that did not last for three years. I asked Samsung if they would bear the cost of the repairs, but interestingly enough, my TV was not in the "production range" that would allow for the cost to be covered. So, essentially I am left with a $2,000 42" panel of plastic that will occasionally play the "friendly, uplifting" Samsung chime and clicking noises as it continuously reminds me that Samsung has produced the Ford Pinto of LCD TVs. Thank you Samsung. May the rest of the world realize that as you are jacking up prices for the latest and greatest technology you have no intention to stand behind your products or your brand name. Lastly, in case your Company is unable to comprehend with the above review, I will not be buying another Samsung product and will do everything I can to keep people I know from being scammed by purchasing faulty products from your company. RS2530BSH11/5/2009I purchased a Samsung Refrigeraton on May 14, 2007 about 12months later the fridge started making these churning noises sporiadically. Contacted two service companies and both said nothing wrong with the refrigerator. On Aug-Sep,2009 only two years after my 1k investment. The noises got louder and louder, the freezer stopped working, and couple of days later both fridge and freezer stopped working. The third repair man came to diagnose; only to find out like some other reviews I read a little to late on this Samsung Refrigeraton the "computer in it", stopped working. Long story short, and 1600.00 dollars later. I hope my experience will help other consumers. I spent hours dealing with "the Samsung Executive offices" spoke with Robin, Keshera, and lastly with Mimi, what pieces of work. They are definetly trained to provide no customer service assistance at all. So, buyer beware. Samsung TV Known Power Cycling Issue10/15/2009 Jeffersonville INI have been trying for three weeks to get service on my Samsung 52inch television. It simply started cycling "on" and "off" without any prompting by anyone. Apparentlyy, this is known as "power cycling" and is a common problem. So common, in fact, Samsung actually has a firmware update to try and fix this problem. Except, you can't use the firmware if your TV won't turn on. Go ahead, google (Samsung+Powercycling) and see what you get. I have an extended warranty, and at first Samsung claimed it was not through them, even though it's got Samsung written all over the policy. For three weeks I have been passed back and forth between "service techs" and Samsung, when all they need to do is come out and replace the power supply, per the warratny I paid $500 bucks for. By the way, since Samsung and the people they have chosen to fix the television (AT&T Connect Tech) won't actually contact me to fix the problem, the warranty is useless. I literally cannot schedule an appointment with these people to get a service call, as they keep putting me on hold, never calling back, telling me they thought it was resolved and to call Samsung for another service number, etc. etc. I believe AT&t Connect Tech to be a scam company. I do not believe, and I have no evidence that they actually intend to fix my television. I believe Samsung is aware of this fact, and is complicit in the denial of service. I will never buy another Samsung product again. I believe consumers should be aware of this issue, as it is a common issue, and the televisions should not be sold to people. Had I not had an extended warranty (which is actually useless in practice)I would have no leg to stand on because the TV is 13 months old. Samsung Sucks. Period. A three year old CRT TV should NOT go out!6/29/2009Three years ago I bought this 32 inch tube TV. At the time LCDs were new and Plasmas were the rage, but the reliability on these was unknown. Good old fashion tube TVs were listed as the best reliability by Consumer Reports. So, I paid a lot of money for the fancy Samsung wide screen, narrow body (for a tube) TV, rather than spend a bit more for a flat screen. Big mistake. It's a nice TV with a good picture. Until a month or so ago it had a pink screen when turned on. It would clear up at first, but not pink/purple wavy lines are all over the picture. Larry the cable guy came out and confirmed it was not a cable or signal problem. So, I call customer service (on a Saturday). They were very nice but said the TV was off warranty by 2 years and they can't help. When I said I expect a brand name TV to last more than 3 years and that if nothing was done, I could never recommend another Samsung. She said I had a good complaint and I should call during the week and ask for Executive Customer Service. Long story short, Executive Customer Service was also very nice and apologetic, but said after 2 years out of warranty they could do nothing. Here is the thing. I had a truck that was out of warranty and got a new paint job because they backed up their product. I had a car WAY off warranty and they replaced some faulty electrical parts for the same reason. I want to deal with a company that believes in and backs their products. I have a very cheap Konka TV, made in Korea or China or Atlantis or somewhere that is 7 years old and still going strong. Why not a Samsung. Bottom line. Samsung apparently equals unreliable. Don't buy one. Watch the quality of their tvs6/2/2009I bought this TV in 3/06. 2 wks ago the TV would not turn on. I checked the manual and it told me to buy a new lamp (cost=$165 at a discount house). the new lamp did nothing. I called Samsung who told me that there was nothing they could do. they referred me to a local repair shop. the shop estimated that the repair would cost $350 to $500. i paid $2000 for this TV. now I know the quality is poor. this will be the only time I repair this TV. next time I will buy a better quality TV by reading posts like this. Samsung Fridge12/13/2008 Richmond VII purchased a Samsung side by side fridge at best buy, 8/2008. The Fridge was delivered installed, and we were told that it would take 24 hours to cool down, we waited a day before we put food in it, we then started to notice that the food wasn't cold, it was almost room temperature, spoiled milk, sticky meats, I called Samsung, they immediately took our information and got us in touch with A-1 Appliance in Glen Allen, VA. They came out within 2 days, diagnosed the problem, informed us that it needed a front control board, and also a Main Control board and they would order the parts and would contact us when the parts came in, On 12/9/2008, they were back at our house the repair tech indicated that he put the parts in. My husband was home and said that the front control board was never replaced, the only board that was replaced was the the main control board, I immediately contacted the repair shop. I've lost so much food in that fridge because it would stop cooling. Well, the owner Jackie and I talked and I advised her that the front control board was not replaced, she said she would call me back, within 5 minutes she called me, said she called the tech back into the shop and checked his truck and the parts were replaced, ok, I said, I'm not a repair tech, but my husband isn't dumb either, we will wait and see if it works right, within 2 days I was calling Samsung back up. They once again got us in touch with A1 appliance, they sent another tech back out on 12/12/08, he checked the fridge and advised us that the front control board had not been replaced (same company, different tech) I called the owner of the company and advised her to "chris's" findings, she said that was not accurate. I called Samsung customer service and advised them of the problem, I was told that they were going to issue a check for the replacement of the fridge, all the dealings with Samsung have been very helpful, my problem has been with the repair companies. Would I buy another Samsung fridge..... NO, I'm waiting for the refund so I can purchase another of a different brand. Broken Again7/2/2008 new york NYMy Samsung DLP is 3 years old it is now not working again for the 4th time. After spending $4000.00 on a TV you would expect at least something a little more reliable. SAVE YOU MONEY. On top of that the repairman does not bother showing up. I called to find out why and the ECR dept tells me they cancelled the call. Oh yeah they are to busy to talk to me. No phone numbers, no CEO, no help at all. Never again will I buy any thing Samsung. Unbelievable3/8/2008 Scottsdale AZWe purchased this TV in August 2006 and really enjoyed its features. HDMI and Component Video ports were compatible for our use with HD cable and DVD. Just 19 months after purchase, we were watching our favorite HD cable program when the picture compressed down to standard resolution, then went completely dark. Okay, I broke the system down and reconfigured the AV Receiver to the prior settings, which have been the same since we purchased the TV; but still no picture. I thought the HD cable box went bad...so I switched it out with another working HD box and still no picture.(called the cable company and everything checked out) I then by-passed the receiver and plugged in the HDMI, then component cables directly from the cable box to the TV and still no picture. I then plugged in the analog video and audio cables into the TV and those worked fine. To recheck if it wasn't the cable line; I plugged in the DVD component cables directly to the TV, and still no picture. So I have a 1080P HD TV that has no HD capability. I called "customer support" at Samsung, and although I was reassured they were sorry, the best thing they could do was give me telephone numbers of local technicians. I gave up a perfectly good Mitsubishi 65" HDTV that I enjoyed for 5 years and thought I was doing good trading up to a 1080P DLP, but what a mistake. $2500 for a TV that lasted 19 months. I haven't called the service tech yet, but have a feeling it's not going to be a cheap fix. Do yourself a favor and avoid this manufacturer's products. They are unproven, flimsy and high priced products that do not deliver. Class action suit anyone? Sales Boost Policy!!!3/6/2008 Los Angeles CAThere is a board right above the LCD panel on my 46" TV amongst other numerous boards, which Samsung does not provide to its authorized repair shops. So when this board goes bad, they are telling you to buy a whole new LCD panel, which is so expensive that you are better off to buy a new TV all together. This board went bad on my TV just after a year and half at which point the warranty is expired. I called Samsung customer support and they adamantly insisted that what ever the shop says is what I have to do and that the board is not sold separately. The Joke is, that Samsung provides this board to other companies, for what ever reason or purpose and I was able to get it on line and repair my TV myself. The question is, why is this board (part) failing so soon (I have hears of several cases myself alone), and why Samsung likes to sell you a new LCD Panel/TV at a much higher price instead of the Board at a fraction of the LCD panel's cost? Why didn’t it bother Samsung a bit when I told them about the situation and why didn't it bother them at all that they have a quality problem here? Is Samsung trying to boost sales by following such policy? Samsung may not care about quality and practice, but customers do. I am not buying any more Samsung products and I suggest every one else to reconsider if they intend to buy their products. Poor Quality2/15/2008 Annapolis MDThis 46" Samsung TV is a replacement for a 43" Samsung that was repaired 5 times. We've had this TV about 1 1/2 years and the picture went blank just before the Super Bowl (there is sound) We were talked into this set by our sales rep. who insisted that the previous set was not the norm. Now, we've had 2 Samsungs, neither one lasting 2 years. The amount of time and frustration we've experienced is not something that you would expect with a $4,000 set. My son told me to buy Japanese. He bought his Sony 50" before we bought our first set and has not had any problems Disappointing Product1/17/2008 Lockport NYWe bought this Plasma TV 18 months ago and paid a lot because we thought we we getting one of the best on the market. 18 months later the thing just quit. No warranty it is only good for 1 year. Why buy the extra warranty when they tell you that the TV should last 23 years playing 6 hours a day? 18 months is well short. Had to send it to a repair shop because they can not work on them in the home. That was 5 weeks ago and they tell me that they are having trouble getting the parts. So for any one thinking about buying a Samsung Plasma TV just remember they do not last and you can not get parts. This will be the last Samsung we ever own. Reliability Non-existent12/7/2007 PAPurchased Model 4252 in June 2005. Worked flawlessly until September 2007 when the picture died. Took to Samsung authorized repair company. Service representative informed me that 4 circuit boards required replacement (Y board with 2 driver buffer boards and X board). The estimated repair cost including labor was $1,000. Declined repair since new 42" plasma TV's are currently available for that price. I was considering the purchase of 2 additional Samsung plasma TV's - a 42" for my firm to use with audio-visual projection presentations for clients and a 32" for home. At this point I will never purchase another Samsung product. Not taking responsibility for bad product10/12/2007 WindsorLNR408DX 40" LCD panel assy. died after 20 months of normal use. Samsung does not want to replace panel since it is 8 months over MFG. warranty period. Panel costs more then brand new TV or equal qualities. This TV was over $3,000, nice chunk of change for Samsung. Very disappointed with Samsung quality of TV. This model has been placed in past models only after not even 2 years of production. Customer Service 1-800-SAMSUNG gives you run around. No one gives definite answer. Alisha (customer support rep.) give me presidents e-mail. I did write the e-mail but honestly do not believe to he/she will replay. When Samusng is going to stand behind its product. Good quality or mass production of what ever comes from assy. line? As a consumer we can not rely on quality of product. Extended warranties are a absolute must for big $$$ and poor service. G.V. Samsung TV8/15/2007 indianapolis INI purchased a Dynaflat HD TV two years ago and guess what it no longer works! I called the service center only to hear we can provide you with the nearest authorized repair shop. One thousand dollars for two years of use what a joke. Never again will I purchase anything with the name Samsung! Especially at the cost of $500.00 a year for the use. Samsung is junk. Samsung a terrible brand name7/11/2007 Noth Texas TXI have a 50" Samsung DLP TV and always bragged about the picture, until now. It is 8 months out of warranty, and has a bad DMD board, and something else. Total estimate: 1500.00 to repair. This TV can be purchased right now for 1200. I called Samsung, they acted bored with my complaint, and offered no assistance. I talked to a supervisor and he was rude. They showed me NO customer service, or support. Buyer Beware!6/2/2007 Vineland NJI intended to purchase a Samsung 226BW 22 inch LCD monitor. A few people had warned me that the aforementioned model had three product model/series: S, A & C. This letter is nowhere to be found on the product packaging; the only way to determine which model one had purchased was to open the box and read the Serial Number Label affixed to the back of each monitor - a slick move on Samsung's part. I was advised by friends to buy the "S" model, which reflected Samsung's supposed quality/dependability, as reviewed by numerous magazine and online sources. I was warned to stay away from the "A" and "C" models that were shipped afterwards, which are produced for Samsung by other manufacturers and are riddled with defects and reliability issues - as confirmed by numerous online Circuit City and other retail customer reviews. The in-store, 19 inch and 22 inch Samsung monitor display models that I checked were both "S." The store associate wasn't able to tell me the model letter of the in-stock, 22 inch Samsung monitor I intended to buy. I was required to first buy the monitor in question; I immediately opened the box in the store; it turned out to be a "C," the worst of the two lesser quality series. The exchange of the "C" monitor for an alternative brand was a long fiasco. The whole experience has since caused me to think twice about making any subsequent Circuit City purchases. Finally, Samsung, with their bait-and-switch tactics, does Circuit City a disservice, as clearly seen in the all-too-numerous, poor on-line customer reviews. The in-store Samsung monitor displays are of the better quality of a series of the same model number, yet the products that customers are purchasing are of a lesser quality and reliability that is not discernable by a simple, convenient inspection of the Model/Serial Number Label affixed to the exterior of each box. I, as well as most people who ask me for advice and ask about my good/bad experiences, can't help but speculate as to which other products Samsung, as well as other manufacturers, apply such shady tactics to as well. I consequently won't be buying or recommending anything with a Samsung label, as most people with whom I speak agree Short/Poor Reliabiltiy Samsung DLPTV5/16/2007 Snellville GAI purchased a highly recommended Samsung 40" DLPTV Model#HLN437W in May of 2004 at a sale price of $1500.00. Picture quality and performance were excellent until September of 2006 when I had to replace the Bulb at @179.99. Today May 16th. 2007 this Samsung DLPTV needs an Engine Board to repair the unviewable picture, at a cost of $936.72, which I will not do as that would raise the total 3 year maintenance cost of this Samsung DLPTV to $1116.71, plus the $89.00 service call to give me this bad news. This Cost to operate this Samsung DLPTV along with the purchase would bring the cost over the 3 year period to $$2616.71 That's $872.23 per year plus electricity. I would not consider this to be a very reliable Samsung TV when considering that the TV it replaced was a $699 27" Zenith Stereo Console TV that lasted 24 years and 1 month, with total repair costs for the 24 years at $101.12. That's $33.34 per year to operate! While I'm aware that 24 years and $100 is probable the best case scenario one could hope for, and I realize that everything goes up, a $838.89 per year increase for this Samsung DLPTV is not what I was hoping for. Considering that at my recommendation my parents, and numerous friends purchased Samsung TV's I guess I'll be holding my breath. I contacted Samsung Customer Service and while they were very nice and apologetic, no attempt at assistance or customer retention was made. Oh Well! I guess I'll be headed out to look at other brands. Washer And Company No Good5/1/2007 SEATTLE WAWife purchased samsung washer mn # wf206bnw/xaa brand new from fry's 8 weeks ago still has not been able to wash one load. It sits in middle of kitchen with dryer on top because repair company cannot get their act together first it was supposed to be motor then? Never again. They will see the power of word of mouth. Terrible service4/24/2007 Chattanooga TNI purcahsed a 42" samsung in October. It failed February 2. I still don't have a replacement or a firm time I will receive one. It took Samsung 3 weeks to get it picked up. I finally called a month after pick up to find out what was wrong and was told the display had failed and I would recieve a new TV. Another month went by and no word from Samsung so I called again and was told they would replace my NEW tv with a broken one they have "fixed". However it would be another three weeks or so they won't give a firm time. So after close to 90 days still no TV. NEVER purchase a Samsung! IF you have problems you are on your own. Samsung profits are down due to poor reliability. Clearly their service is even worse than their product. I HATE SAMSUNG! Bad Product9/10/2006 WinnipegI purchased this 27 Inch TV less than 2 years ago. It will now not turn on. The green light below the Timer just flashes. Samsung says it is off warranty.
