Well I bought a PS3 in December 07, and like I always do I bought the extended warranty. After it broke down on me in December 09 I started looking for reviews on the extended warranty. As it turned out I found this site and I got extremly worried and couldn't decide what to do. Finnaly I decided I already payed for it I should just try it and if it fails sue and get another one. So I sent it. I called two weeks later and they said it was repaired and on it's way back. I was happy but I wanted a tracking number, so I called two days later to get it and now the story changed, apparently it was now deemed unrepairable so they siad someone wud call me in a few days to find out wat wud happen. So they called and said theydon't make that model anymore and wud send a check, sure enough less then a week later there it is 540.18 check to replace my playstation the insurance company is called asurian and they did really good and I'm GLAD I bought the extended warranty. Thanks Walmart and asurian.

Walmart Tire and Lube Bad Service , yet again

    11/6/2009 Charlotte MI

My complaint also is about Walmart Tire & lube. I stopped for an Oil Change on my 2005 Dodge 2500 with 67000 miles. When they checked the rear end they broke the plug in the rear end and 500 miles later the rear end seized because all the oil had come out and I was 500 miles from home in the middle of Missouri. Walmart would not stand up to the $6000 bill that the dealership charged to put a new rear end in the truck. Walmart Claims Co is denying all responsibility in this action. And the Podunk Dodge dealership Palmer Motors in Lebanon Mo used every trick in the book to continue charging me for additional work. I asked to see bad parts and very conveinently they had all been scrapped. So I am writing a letter to the Attorney General in both Michigan and Missouri to complain. Walmart has lost my business now and thank god I don't have to go back to podunk Mo.

    Use Caution

    10/18/2009 Wilkes-Barre Township PA

After having our oil changed in the tire and lube department in Wilkes-Barre Twp. Penna. Wal-Mart I discovered one of the so called technicians had placed he oil fill cap on the motor in a way that I would ruin it when I took it off. The cap was literally forced on to the point it was ruined.
I showed one of the chuckle head Managers the situation a few days later, he stated how you know it was this place. Hmmm. It must of been that ring of national oil cap people, wait! Maybe it was someone from the Ford Motor Co. trying to make us buy a Ford product... Anyway! They never made good on the complaint. I could see this getting tossed into the “Heck if were gunna do anything pile” The person tending the counter had no knowledge of car care; I wonder if she took the bus to work, she didn't look like someone that would operate a motor vehicle, at least I hope she don’t. After complaining about the counter person, we see her quite frequently. Does the tale prove it's self? Those whom do less and screw up get ahead in life much more? I have seen many employees placed in situations such as this do to the insecurity of the bone head manager. Yes, that’s right; hire an idiot to make your self look so fine!

I am not even going to get into the rest of the stores staffing. You just have to see this one for yourself. Sure they smile, they stop when you question them about something... but try and get a solid answer from them. It's like dealing with a bunch of tools! Yes tools! Where do they get some of these people?

If you would like to see something interesting… check out the 35 year old, Mr. G. Q. in electronics, this clown is too much! We were in this department seeking a camera and the idiot was like a dog on heat! Every young girl that come near the counter he would drop what he’s doing and put on this act that would turn your stomach! I seen this act, we were there in this department for a half hour while the wife gone through every stupid music CD. I am assuming his act starts at 2-3 P.M. till 10-11 P.M. Better be hot or I could only hope you get service if there is another associate in the area.

Being treated like a dummy and being yelled at

    7/6/2009 bradford PA

What a wonderful time I had today at Walmart auto center. all we wanted was 2 tires. we were treated like we didn't know anything and they were very very rude to us. what ever happen to the customer is right?im not stupid and I have one thing that these people don't have. common sense!all we got was hasseled and snotty remarks. Walmart is not all that great and they do not have the lower prices as they claim. its people like us that can make or brake these idiots and as far as I can say these 3 people should be fired!walmart can take their store and tires and put them where the good lord inteded them to be put. where the sun don't shine. i now have as much use for Walmart as I do used toilet paper!we did get our tires elsewhere and won't send my worst enemy there.

Tire & Lube business practices North Myrtle Beach, SC - BE AWARE!!!

    6/17/2009 North Myrtle Beach SC

I got the flat tire the other day. Nothing too serious just small leak (it was not even visible only after I checked air pressure). I went to Tire&Lube in Walmart, North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. After inspecting tire I was told it is beyond repair. I was offered tire replacement. After brief discussion with technician I still was not 100% convinced, but my time is precious so I approved new tire. I asked to keep my old tire. I was told I had a broken belt and tire was unrepairable. THEY LIED TO ME !!! I went to a different tire shop, they looked at my old tire and found NOTHING unsafe on it !!! No belt broken !!!

Plus the tire they sold was overpriced ($95 for this average brand as much as I paid for Pirelli !!!). Will never do business with their Tire & Lube Express again !!!

    Wal-Mart Automotive Sucks

    2/28/2009 Clinton TN

We took our car a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer to Walmart for it's regular oil change and vehicle checkup. During the checkup it came to our attention that the transmission dipstick had been broken off and they could not check the fluid in the transmission. They said they did not do it and that it most likely happened the oil change before which was also at a Walmart. At that time we ask Barry Byrd if it was okay to drive the vehicle and he said yes. One week later the transmission locked up and had to be towed to a transmission specialist who said the failure was do to lack of fluid in the transmission. We feel that in fact the dipstick was broke off at the previous oil change by a Walmart employee and he simply got rid of that part of the dipstick and signed off on the transmission to relieve himself of blame not telling us the the stick had been broken and unable to check the fluid. If he would have informed us of this issue it could have been solved with out the $2900 cost for a transmission rebuild. We filed a claim with CMI (Claims Management Inc.)Phone # 888-213-7534 (we dealt with a Barb there who was rude talked down to us and even called the mechanic at the transmission shop a liar and that the transmission had to have a leakage issue and she would have to deny the claim he explained to her that there were no leaks and it was a Walmart topping off issue.

When CMI received the statements from the Walmart fluid checkers not mechanics (which barb at CMI called them) they had changed the statements made and told her that they never told us it was okay to drive the vehicle and did not recall placing blame on the previous Walmart oil change. We went to our Attorney's office on 2-27-09 and are in the process of suing Walmart and CMI. Please take our advice and never let Walmart fluid checkers touch your vehicle as the internet shows that they have more complaints than praises. This will be taken to the next level and will make it a life long goal to expose Walmart Automotive. We would love to start a class action suit against Walmart and CMI.If anyone reading this has had a problem with Walmart Automotive would like to join this class action please notify us at wholesaledirect@comcast.net as we have a attorney that would love to do it.

Consequences. Describe the economic or physical damage that resulted.

    Transmission cost $2900
    3 weeks without the vehicle
Treated like a idiot and lied to.

    Complaint Warranty Rip-off

    12/22/2008 ridgeland SC

I purchased two RCA big screen TVs from Walmart with the extended warranty and started having problems with reception after a year. When I called for the warranty I got the run around and had a problem getting someone to even check it out. I was told it just needed a panel from their repairman and he would return. Instead after calling several times and after the passage of two months I was told that my money for the warranty was being returned but it was supposedly sent to the wrong address and returned to them.

WALMARTS WARRANTY PROGRAM IS OBVIOUSLY A RIP-OFF SO DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY BY BUYING IT. I now have two RCA televisions which are worthless.

Walmart Doesn't Take Responsibility For Mistakes!

    8/28/2008 NJ

I recently had Wal-Mart auto services install a battery in my car. After a few days the car stalled and had to be towed to garage. The mechanic found that the wrong battery had been installed. It was too high, it overheated and welded the hood latch shut as well as caused damage to the underside of the hood. The cost of the damage was $490. I had the Walmart receipt for the battery and installation, a receipt from the mechanic who fixed the damage clearly stating that the cause was the installation of the wrong battery, and pictures of the damages. I submitted these to Wal-Mart's claim management company (CMI) and my claim was refused.

They blamed the manufacturer of the battery not the morons that installed the wrong one. Going to small claims court on this one.

    Oil Change Nightmare!

    7/29/2008 Roanoke TX

My daughter had her oil changed last night on the way home from work. She got home and the car was leaking oil. Walmart was closed by that time. This morning first thing, she called them and told them. They said bring it back and she said I can’t come all that way in a car that’s leaking oil (the place where she had it done was 30 miles from home, but close to work), so they said take it to the closest store. She started out and it started sputtering, so she went back home and called them. They sent a tow truck to get it and take it to the Walmart and said they would fix it for her and if they couldn’t fix it, they’d take it somewhere and have it fixed.

Problem solved, right? Oh no, now they said it wasn’t anything they did. They say that gas is getting into her oil somehow and it’s not their fault. Now the dealership is sending a tow truck to Walmart to pick it up and take it to their shop. She’s beside herself with fear that it’s going to cost money she doesn’t have. I told her if the dealership finds out it really was something that Walmart did, they can hopefully talk to them and get something worked out. If not, and it really is something that COINCIDENTALLY went wrong at the very same time the oil was changed, her warranty will cover it.

I don't believe for one minute that it is a coincidence. She said they looked under the car and saw where, instead of using a filter gasket, they had used silicone. The area has to be bone dry and completely free of oil in order for that to work, plus it doesn't set up immediately. If one drop of oil gets between the silicone and the car, there's no seal. Why wouldn't they use a gasket? It's cheap enough. I think either doing that caused a leak, or they stripped the threads or crossthreaded the plug. Either way, oil was pouring out of it within 30 minutes of them changing the oil, and it certainly wasn't leaking when she took it in there. The car is only 10 months old.

Never Buy Tires From Walmart - You Get What You Pay For

    7/21/2008 Siler City NC

My in-laws has bought three Goodyear Viva 2 tires from Walmart in November 2007.

Since then we had to go back not once, twice, but three times since then, two of those times were back to back Friday's (June 20,2008 & June 27,2008).

And now this past Friday July 18, 2008. All three times the Viva 2 tire had a crack in the middle of the tire.

What's the deal ???? I know they say thing's come in three's, but come on three brand new tires that end up with a crack in the middle (within one month).

And on top of it all, every time you go there to have the tire replaced you have to spend $9.95 Road Hazard plus $1.50 fee which totals out to $11.24 after taxes.

This past Sunday when I went with my wife & in-laws a mechanic worker told me "maybe it's your driving" then said " maybe your van needs an alignment", at that point I told the worker "no, you need to go to automotive school because if it was to be the alignment my tires would show wear & tear on the side, this is in the middle of my tire & by the way Wal-Mart needs to also send you to school to learn customer respect!!!!

At that point I just called for a manager. Then the manager told me if I don't pay the $9.95 Road hazard plus $1.50 Fee which totals out to $11.24 After taxes my tire will not be covered.

I told her "if there happens to be another flat... I don't plan on coming back to Walmart auto center... plus this shouldn't be happening with a brand new tire."

So before you decide to buy any tires at Wal-mart... I would think twice, take my advice it's not worth the aggravation.

    Low Prices - BAD Service

    4/29/2008 Raleigh NC

On 4/4/2008, I drove my 2005 Chrysler Sebring, (with only 54,000 miles and zero mechanical problems,) to Wal-Mart store #5292 for a simple $20 oil/filter change. I had done so in the past with another vehicle without incident.

Afterwards I drove my car directly home, (approx. 5 miles), and parked it until 4/6/2008 when I was leaving for church and my roommate heard a loud knocking sound in the engine. He checked the oil and there was no oil showing on the dipstick.

We called Wal-Mart and spoke with the Auto Center Supervisor, and explained that they had just changed the oil/filter two days earlier and that I had only driven my car home and parked it and now there was no oil in the car and no oil on the ground underneath it!

The supervisor and another technician then came to our house to examine the car, (without a jack or an oil filter wrench!).

After borrowing a jack and a pair of channel locks from my roommate the supervisor got underneath the car and IMMEDIATELY said the problem was, “THE WRONG FILTER.”

After trying to replace the filter on the car with the one that he THOUGHT was the correct filter, (BUT WAS NOT), he retracted his diagnosis and said, “the book” and “the computer” listed two different filters. The filter he tried to install that DID NOT FIT was the filter listed on “the computer”(and incidentally the filter I was billed for on the service order!), and the filter that was on the car that he at first said, was “the wrong filter” was listed in “the book.”

Then he put ANOTHER “the book” listed, filter on the car and filled the engine with oil. He then started the car and oil was spewing, over the top of the filter, like an open water hydrant. He got back under the car and tried to readjust the filter and started the car again with the same result.

THEN he had a LIST of possibilities causing the leak: rear seal broken; bad sensor causing the computer to mal-function; oil control valve needed replacing; (none of which ANY technician at Wal-Mart had mentioned to me NOR was ANY of these problems noted on the service order!) It wasn’t until AFTER the oil/filter change that this problem began to occur.

He THEN suggested that I DRIVE THE CAR back to Wal-Mart so that he could “look at the car on the lift,” since it was only “about ten minutes” from the house, (which I thought was a CLEAR indication of incompetence, since he had just seen the car spew more than a quart of oil in less than thirty seconds SITTING STILL.)

So I rejected his suggestion because I didn’t want to risk what I suspected then would have been EVEN FURTHER engine damage.

After that he told me that there was nothing more that he could do and the “ONLY” other option I had was to “file a claim with CMI,” Wal-Mart’s claim management office.

My roommate drove me to the store to question this policy and we spoke to an assistant manager, who told us the same thing: BUT when my roommate persistently asked how filing a claim with THEIR claims manager would benefit me, he reluctantly admitted that “the claim” was basically to release Wal-Mart from ANY and ALL liability and if I wanted them to investigate the claim I would have to have the car towed to a garage, and have a mechanic prepare the car for inspection FOR THEM at MY EXPENSE!

We asked to speak to HIS supervisor because we felt/feel that this was/is an “unfair practice” His supervisor, a store co-manager, told us that there WAS another option in which Wal-Mart would tow the car and repair the problem if the cost didn’t exceed $300, but even THAT option was at the discretion of the claims manager.

He then assured us that what he could AND would do was personally make some calls to people he knew at CMI to make sure my claim received immediate attention and special consideration for the $300 option and keep me updated on the status of my claim.

Needless to say he DID NOT honor his word. I was NEVER offered ANY other option, I DID have the car towed/prepared and as of 4/15/2008, after having ALREADY accumulated much unwarranted expense, going eleven days without my car, missing several days from work and enduring the frustration of countless unmade, unanswered and unreturned phone calls by managers at Wal-Mart AND CMI, I was told by CMI’s case manager, that a defective crankshaft was the cause of my problem and Wal-Mart was not at fault, (and I initiated THAT call!)
So now in addition to the stress and inconvenience of not having transportation, I am strapped with making payments on a car I’ve owned for less than six months, which up until now has had NO problems with oil leaks OR engine knocks; but AFTER having the oil/filter changed on it at Wal-Mart needs a NEW ENGINE, and Wal-Mart is absolved from ANY accountability based on THEIR investigation conducted by someone who NEVER even contacted me and who for all I know is just a somebody getting paid to say it wasn’t Wal-Mart’s fault, (which based on SEVERAL factors seem blatantly obvious!):

    1. The assistant manager at Wal-Mart, ADMITTED that the purpose of the claim was to release Wal-Mart from ANY liability and then essentially MAKE the customer with the complaint pay the bulk of the expense for what I have now experienced to be CMI’s bogus investigation.
    2. CMI made absolutely no attempt to assure me that their investigation would be impartial and unbiased-to wit:
    a) CMI NEVER communicated to me who their investigator was, his credentials OR his status, (i.e. certified mechanic, independent contractor, or Wal-Mart Employee etc.)
    b) CMI’s investigator NEVER contacted me to question me about the incident with Wal-Mart
    c) CMI’s investigator completely disregarded my mechanic’s “unbiased opinion,” which was that in order for the car to be in it’s current condition, something wrong had to be done at Wal-Mart to cause the leak, which then lead to the knocking, otherwise the car COULD NOT HAVE BEEN DRIVEN IN; and/or even if somehow it was, a competent technician would have had to notice the leak or hear the knocking and JUST TO PROTECT HIMSELF AND WAL-MART FROM LIABILITY, advise me that an oil/filter change would not solve that problem. (The service order indicates that the engine oil was ONLY a half quart low BEFORE the oil/filter change, there were NO remarks ON the service order about a knock in the engine OR an oil leak, and I was NOT advised of ANY such problems.)

    3. The technician that came to my house practically INSISTED that the filter on the car was THE WRONG FILTER, until he realized that the one that he had brought to replace it was ALSO THE WRONG FILTER.
    4. My mechanic as well as HIS major repair mechanic, both certified technicians, have advised me that the wrong filter COULD cause a leak like the one I now have and lead to a DAMAGED CRANKSHAFT VERY QUICKLY if the car is driven with no oil in the engine;
    5. Wal-Mart has numerous complaints of the exact same or very similar scenario/outcome as mine posted at consumeraffairs.com and several other sites on the Internet.

Both of the above-mentioned mechanics have ALSO advised me that the ONLY way to insure that my car performs the way it did before this incident is to install a NEW engine because:
    a) Very expensive un-guaranteed labor to install expensive new but potentially defective with limited warranty parts in a used engine (even with just 54,000 miles) would NOT be cost effective!
    b) It is highly unlikely that I can find a used engine in as good condition with as low mileage as the one in my car now with MORE than a 90-day warranty that DOES NOT INCLUDE LABOR!

I cannot afford a new engine for my car and I cannot afford the retainer fee for an attorney to go up against a giant like Wal-Mart.

I am HUMBLY requesting that someone in your office or organization PLEASE do any and everything you can to initiate actions to reinvestigate my claim and based on what is clear and undeniable evidence provoke Wal-Mart to be held accountable for damage to my car caused by faulty work done in their auto service center at store #5292.
I respectfully submit that as a fair and reasonable resolution Wal-Mart
    a) Pay for installation of a new engine in my car, by a mechanic of my choice
    b) Compensate me for sick days used because of time out from work due to transportation issues
    c) Refund me for a botched oil/filter change
    d) Issue me a formal WRITTEN apology, which states that they were at fault for damage to my car and for causing me excessive inconvenience.

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration as I anxiously anticipate your prompt response to this matter.

    Sincerely,

    Oil Change Service.

    4/3/2008 NY

On 03/26/08 I went to have my fluids topped off at Wal-mart Tire and Lube in Oneonta N.Y. first of all the flat out lied about the time of service.I waited almost 3hours for my car,and I was the second car in line the recipt stated I had my car back within 45mins.I opted for a deluxe service package which was to include,Vaccum, winshield cleaning,ect..,on the way home my oil light came on,now my power steering is making noise,my breaks are squeaking I did not have all of these problems when I took my car to them. I took the recipt and went back to Wal-Mart 2 days later they flat out refused to help me or even take a look at what my concerns were. The manager told me his employees are not responsible for what happens to my car after I leave their shop!

    Laziness

    3/6/2008 Appleton WI

I have an older car. It's a '91 Olds Toronado. I know whats wrong with it, so I keep it around. But I know it's an older car... I took it to Walmart on the East side of Appleton, Wi on Saturday, March 1st. I wanted my oil changed and my tires rotated. They said it would take roughly 30-40 minutes. I said "that'll be fine" and carried on with my shopping. I never heard my name announced so I went back to the TLE to ask them about my car. They stated they could not get my hood open, so they could not do the oil change. While knowing theres a trick to opening my hood, I suggested that I open it for them and they can carry on. He stated he already closed out the ticket and I'd have to come back another time as theres a lot of people waiting. I asked them if they looked at my tires, and they said they were fine, but they didn't bill me for anything. I said, okay at least I know my tires are okay.

I drive about 100 or so miles everyday to get to and from work, so tires are important to me. I didn't work Sunday, I worked Monday, I didn't work Tuesday, Wednesday March 5th, on my way to work I had a flat tire. I was told, and I stupidly followed people's orders because I don't know much about cars, that if I put a can of Fixaflat in it, I'd be okay enough to get to Walmart for them to fix my flat. OKay, I did that.. And once I got to Walmart they explained to me since they could not repair my tire because of the Fixaflat, they could easily sell me one for 85 dollars plus tax. I get it, my stupid mistake, but I didn't have 85 dollars on me. So they said they would put the tire back on and pump air in my tire, so I could at least get to work. I thanked them and drove off. My tire went flat again. Long story short...

Neither I, nor my mother could take the tire off and put the spare on. I called a 24 hour repair guy, he said.. Your lug nut is stripped. How could it have been stripped if the last guy to touch it was my local mechanic 3 months ago, but Walmart was easily capable of taking it off? I explained this to them and they said they'd pay for a new lug nut, but not the 30-50 dollars it's going to take to put the new lug nut on. The lug nut they put back onto my tire didn't even look like the rest of my other lug nuts. I replaced all my lug nuts about a year ago to be the same lug nut... And now I have a different lug nut, stripped, on my flat tire. Yay for more bills due to incompetency!

Power Steering fluid in the Brake System

    7/17/2007 winchester KY

My car was serviced at Wal-Mart in April 2007. Several weeks later, the brakes seemed spongy and unresponsive, especially under heavy braking. There were a few instances in which accidents were narrowly avoided. Once the brakes developed a noise in the right front portion of the car, I immediately had the car serviced by a qualified mechanic. Dan, a master mechanic worked on the car and inquired about the car’s last service appointment, because the brake fluid was contaminated with power steering fluid. I knew the last service was at Wal-Mart and once I located the receipt I proceeded to the Wal-Mart location in Winchester KY. I was unable to speak with the store manager and settled for the Assistant manager, Brad. I discussed the situation with Brad and he was unsure how to handle the situation and told me that management would be in contact. I told Brad that if any items related to the repair needed to be retained it would have to be done immediately, because the mechanic had to retrieve the items (i.e., the master cylinder was turned in due to a core charge, the fluid had to be isolated, etc). Brad told me that there was no need to retain the replaced automotive parts and/or fluid.

Not satisfied with the manner in which my complaint was being handled, I called the district manager, David, as soon as I returned home. His assistant would not allow me to speak with David, but informed me that my contact information and complaint would be forwarded to James, the district manager of the Automotive Department at Wal-Mart. David’s assistant told me that James would call later that day or early the next day. After my patience was exhausted, I emailed customer support at WalMart.com and finally received a call from James. He told me “that there was no possible way the mechanic could have made this mistake, because the mechanic had been doing the job for 10 years and besides that, Wal-Mart does not check brake fluid”. I informed him that other mechanics have made this mistake and wondered how Wal-Mart’s automotive department was above making any mistakes. He informed me that my only recourse was to fill out an insurance claim and provide the insurance company with the contaminated brake fluid so it could be examined and tested. I informed him that the contaminated brake fluid needed to be isolated and retained yesterday and his management team was aware of this fact. In addition, I informed him that I was told not to worry about retaining the contaminated fluid. He replied by saying, “I’m sorry about what you were told, but the insurance company needs to test the fluid. Without the fluid there is nothing that can be done.” Understanding that James was of no assistance, I asked for the Regional manager’s contact information. James told me “that he was not going to give me that information”.

In order to contact a member of management to hear my concern, I researched the information on the Internet and found several email address for corporate officers and the board of directors. I emailed corporate and several days later Scott contacted me and I reiterated my complaint. He requested the repair bill and I immediately went to UPS store and had the repair bill faxed to him. After review, Scott returned my call and told me that without “the master cylinder and contaminated fluid, there was nothing that could be done because the insurance company needs to test the fluid”. He also inferred that if Wal-Mart assumed responsibility for their mistake they could be held liable for future claims if the brakes malfunctioned again.

The service rendered by Wal-Mart was done incorrectly and caused severe damage to the braking system of my car. There was negligence on the part of Wal-Mart via the improper utilization of resources. The day my car was serviced, Wal-Mart was under-staffed in the automotive department; this is evident and recorded on the receipt for service. On the bottom right corner of the receipt there are 4 distinct positions required to service my car (see attached receipt). Roy is listed as fulfilling the duties and responsibilities for 3 of the positions. In doing so, I believe Roy was not taking the proper precautions and inadvertently put power steering fluid into my brake system. Other qualified technicians have made this mistake and I see no reason why Roy could not have made the same mistake (see attached forum posting). Wal-Mart management is not taking responsibility for their negligence because I cannot provide 100% proof that they are responsible for the damages. However, Wal-Mart employee Roy was the only person under the hood of my car since it was serviced at Valvoline in October 2006. In addition, when the car was serviced at Valvoline, I was in the bay, along with the manager, and I am certain that Valvoline did not cause this problem. Moreover, I would have noticed brake problems sooner. In addition, neither me nor my wife serviced the car in any manner within this time frame (or ever, actually, we pay to have automotive repairs done).

    Poor service quality

    7/16/2007 Navarre FL

New store Navarre FL. charged for service on 99 toyota Battery posts replaces one and not the other one. The one that was broken wasn't replaced and the one that was replaced was already new!! The service man said they don't replace batt. terminals? Then why was I charged for doing one? Also car would not start after this service, and it started fine befor I took it in. I had to buy a new terminal end and replace it myself to get the car to start. More to this but you get the gist.

NOT the first problem I have had with Walmart auto service!

    Automotive Service

    5/18/2007 Bainbridge OH

In Nov 06, The Bainbridge, Ohio Walmart replaced the rear tires on my Jeep Grand Cherokee with tires of a different size than the ones that were on the front. I had asked them to put on the same size but the service manager specified a different size. On Apirl 9, 2007, the front differential failed. The mechanic that repaired my car, stated that due to the mis-matched sizes, too much stress was put on the differential due to the tires now rotating at different speeds. I filed a claim for all the costs of repairing my car. The Store manager and the service manager were very helpful and courtious. The process was extremely fast and pain free. I filed the claim on 4/29/07 and we settled on 5/2/07. Walmart took full responsibility and I was pleasantly surprised at the concern they have for the customer. Thanks Walmart. Walmart really does care about the customer.

My 2007 engine was LOCKED up by Walmart

    11/26/2006 Nashville TN

I took my 2007 Toyota Camry to Walmart on Bell road in Nashville TN for a oil change. I was November 22, 2006. The day before Thanksgiving. I trusted Wal-Mart to complete this simple task; however, I am VERY upset about the results. They forgot to put the oil cap on my car, and placed a 2004 Nissan Altima oil filter on my car. I was able to drive off the lot, and make it to the next stop light when I noticed my oil light was on. While turning around to go back to Wal Mart, my car went dead in the middle of a busy intersection. I called Walmart, and it took the almost one hour to get to me. Wal-mart did not want to take ownership of their mistake. They wanted to me to pay out of my pocket for a rental car. I was able to make it home to see my family for Thanksgiving. I did have to come out almost 516.00 for rental fees in which I am still waiting to refunded for.

Wal-Mart later explained that they don't have a record of which Toyota dealership they took it to; therefore my car was then lost. I didn't know where my car was, and neither did they. They have tried to REPAIR my engine, but I refuse to settle. My engine was not a repaired engine when I took it in, and I don't want to have a repaired engine on a BRAND new car. My car had only 2970 miles on it when I took it in, and now its ruined.
I am still fighting this case in court.

    Oil Change

    3/6/2006 Austin TX

These guys are snakes. They left the air filter holder unattached, making the car stall at a low idle. This almost stranded my wife and baby on the freeway. They only admitted that when I insisted that they change the oil again because the engine light was coming on and the car was stalling. They damaged the bumper ($600-700) and refused to pay because the security camera didn't show the damaged as it happened. Their insurance agent admitted they only showed the car going into the bay, not coming out. The are liars, thieves and snakes. May they rot in hell.

Oil Change Gone Bad part II November 2005

    11/28/2005 Milpitas CA

I mentioned part II is because someone posted something about his/her experience with the oil change. In all honesty, this is the first time that WalMart employees have ticked me off on a simple oil change. I went to WalMart for a routine oil change since they were among the lowest to charge for an oil change and this was the second time to have a vehicle serviced by them. The first time was my mom's car and went without a hitch. So I was confident that my SUV would have a quick and efficient oil change. In the usual manner I queued in my SUV in line with other vehicles and I was then approached or rather I approached the so-called "greeter" who offered the usual sales hype of pay the extra $4 and you get the full service. Not unusual since I also work in the retail business and I just said a simple oil change will do please. I am very particular about my SUV even if it was a 1995 model and so I visibly viewed from a distance how they worked on my vehicle. My gut feel told me something was already wrong when a big young heavyweight was pushing and pulling something under the hood. Obviously the oil filter was "tight". Then again I calmed myself down knowing it may have been difficult to unscrew the filter. After 20 minutes or so, the guy who started my SUV shouted at me asking if it was my SUV and I said "yes". He shouted back "is your oil pressure gauge working?" Uh-oh! I said yes, it was working when I left the car on queue. He shouted back "wait I will take out your vehicle and show you" and he drove it out of the bay and parked it in their lot. I approached my SUV and he showed me my oil pressure gauge was indeed not working. This really ticked me off since I knew for a fact it was working. He opened the hood for me and there I saw that the pressure gauge sensor was "cracked" and started cursing since the big young heavyweight working on my SUV might have accidentally hit it in the process of removing the oil filter. I asked for the manager who after a short wait approached us. I showed him the crack and he started by saying "what model is this SUV?" oh a '95 he started saying "well you know at the age of this vehicle and the proximity of the sensor to the engine/heat would have taken its toll (since the sensor is made up of steel and plastic). The young heavyweight joined in as he was called by the manager since he did work on the vehicle and confirmed that when he drove it to the bay he said "it was working". Looking at the face of the manager, he was expecting the young heavyweight to say "no it was not working". Well dumb luck mister! The mechanic was honest to tell the truth. He then starts by saying that we will pay for the part and the labor as soon as I can present him with a receipt. I asked him to put that down in writing and he declined and that I just had to take his "word" that he would indeed reimburse me as soon as I could present a receipt. Now people tend to develope temporary amnesia for such incidents after 24 hours and am not one to make it pass. It was now 4PM and the repair shops close at 5PM. So off I went to Kragen and with "lady luck on my side" I was able to get the part and was able to find a shop at the very last minute with a kindly mechanic who did not charge me a cent for a 5-minute work which would have cost me $90 per hour (minimum charge) God bless his good heart (or perhaps he was too tired to write up a receipt. In short I drove like mad without breaking any traffic rules and got to WalMart and I was paid for the part after waiting for 20 minutes (in cash) and had to sign a waiver. What really ticked me off was if the mechanic had did his job right, this would have not happened and I had not wasted 1 hour (mind you it was RUSH HOUR)running around just to get my SUV fixed. I wonder though if these so-called mechanics are "certified" knowing how cheap WalMart charges of oil change. Someone has got to look into whether or not WalMart is hiring non-certified mechanics. I just look at it as a "blessing for me" because if the senson was indeed about to break down, well WalMart paid for my new sensor minus of course the hassle of buying the part and getting it fixed and at no cost for the labor to install the sensor.

    Oil Change gone bad

    8/24/2005 Gilbert AZ

I went to WalMart for an oil change as I usually do. In the past they have been quick and done without any problems. This one went bad. After 1 hr 45 min they paged me that the car was ready. I got there and it was still in the bay with the hood up. They then told me the threads were stripped in the oil pan and they tried to put in a larger drain plug to see if that would hold. They wanted to know who did the last oil change and was willing to blame it on them. I gave them the date that they had last changed it... The car was towed to a local shop where a new oil pan was installed. This all happened on Friday morning... It was 1pm before the tow truck showed up. WalMart did not want to pay for the damage. They expected me to pay for the repairs and then they would send a check from corporate in about 2 or 3 days. After talked to a few managers they decided if the bill was split they could pay it directly at the store since they havea cap on the amount they can pay out. On Sat at 3:30 they called to say that I could pick up the money, even though they knew the repair shop closed at 3:00 pm that day. I did pick up the money. On Monday the claims adjuster called and I gave him the information thinking that I would be paid for loss of time, inconvience, etc.. yeah right!! I picked up the car on Monday and the claims administrator called Monday afternoon stating that the claim was denied since they were only responsible for damage done to the car. The did not care about how inconvienced I was or if the weekend was completly ruined. I was told that they have powerful attorneys on retainer so if they pay what they think their responsible for there is not much further I can do. Soooooo... All I can do is spread the word and tell everyone I know about my horrible experience. I've written to every newspaper, television station, website I can find.

Negligence Class Action Suit: Anyone interested?

    12/15/2004 Waterford CT

After reading some of the horror stories on this site about excessive damage and injuries due to mistakes made by Wal-Mart's Auto Service department, my own complaint seems a little trite. Still, the fact that Wal-Mart has just rejected my claim for compensation after returning my car to me with no oil, subsequently causing $700 worth of damage, has irked me a tad.

To all you other victim's out there: are any of you interested in banding together and filing a class-action lawsuit against Wal-Mart asking for restitution? Respond to this post if you are!

Careless Mechanic Does over $2000 Damage

    12/7/2004 Morehead City NC

I went to wal-mart to get my oil changed. I gave them the keys to my car and went for a stroll about the store. I came back and paid for my oil change and took my car home. The road from my wal-mart to my has only a 35 mph speed limit but when I was driving home from school the next day in a 45 mph-55 mph zone the hood of the car which was unlatched since the mechanic had serviced it. The hood flew up and smashed the winshield of my honda civic into the car with me ripped fittings off the engine stretched the frame of the car where the hinges are attached and folded the hood backwards so far that it dented the roof. I contacted wal-mart and was transferred to their insurance company which refused to even acknowledge that there had been an accident. The damages to my car were extensive. and I even walked off with a few. The rear view mirror which is actually attached to the roof of the car flew off from the impact of the hood and struck me in my right eye which was blinded for a week until swelling went down. A few months later my left hand was giving me trouble. I was picking at the cuticle on my index finger and I discovered a shard off glass which i paid no mind to because I was helping clean up debris from hurricane charley but the next week I found an inch long shard of glass in my thumb with a partial vin number on it. That was what finally prompted me to complain in public!

    How Walmart treats its Customer's

    6/28/2004

    Hello Everybody,

I am writing this to voice my frustration and aggravation about how Walmart now handles its customers. Guess what everybody, WE DO NOT MATTER TO THEM ANYMORE! I am a mother of 3 children, 14, 3, and 2. My husband is a truck driver and is not home all week long so this leaves me to take care of everything. I have always shopped Walmart because when you have to drag out a 2 and 3 year old, one stop shopping is easiest. I spend over $30,000 a year in the Walmart Stores; however, I am now boycotting and will refuse to give this store any more of my hard earned money in hopes that more people who feel the same way I do will follow.

Let me explain why I was such a devoted shopper and now I refuse to step foot in their store. Before I begin, Yes I smoke. Sorry but it is not against the law and I am over the age of 21. I am in the process of quitting but it's not easy when you have smoked for 20 years. Now, Walmart has recently changed its policy that you can only buy cigarettes in one isle due to theft and under-age consumers. THIS I UNDERSTAND; however, they have made this line for 10 items or less, NO EXCEPTIONS. As I stated earlier, I have a 2 & 3 year old that I have to drag to the store and I prefer getting all of my items, groceries, diapers, pet supplies, etc. at the same location so that I don't have to drag screaming babies from store to store. Now in order for me to buy cigarettes, I first have to purchase all of my items at one register, and then drag all of my items and Now screaming kids to another register to get cigarettes. I REFUSE. I understand the whole concept of theft and minors buying cigarettes and that something has to be done but when I asked why the cigarette line has to be 10 items or less, they said it was so that the people just buying cigarettes didn't have to wait in line.

So let me get this straight, I am spending $300.00 in one shop, over $2000.00 a month, but the person who is spending less than $5.00 is getting the quality service. Does this make sense. Come on Walmart, How hard is it to change this stupid idea of yours of having the one check-out that carries cigarettes from a 10 items or less or more items. Or better yet, why not appease both consumers and open a check-out next to the other one that is more than 10 items. When I asked this question, the response was that their CSR's who do nothing but stand there and watch their cashiers, could not watch both registers at the same time. Guess what, if they can't then maybe you should be hiring someone who is capable of watching 2 things at once.

After going through all this I figured I would still shop there even though it was an inconvenience, but 2 days later when my husband and I went in, we overheard the manager discussing the situation with another manager. In the discussion, the one manager said that it really didn't matter what the customer's wanted that they would all be back no matter what. After overhearing that I am outraged that this corporation that Sam Walton had good intentions of, is being torn to shreds. They have no regards for their employees or their consumers. They don't CARE what we think. Well let's just see when it gets them where it hurts, THEIR WALLETS. I know that have just lost $30,000 a year from me. And I know that smart people will soon follow.

Guess what Walmart, we do not need you. Just a little information, since K-mart has been having trouble, their prices are now LOWER than yours so I prefer shopping there anyway. So if anyone in K-marts corporation is listening, hang in there because I am sure that your business is getting ready to rise.

Thanks for Listening and Hope you join me in the efforts to stop Walmart from screwing the consumers.

    Michelle

    oil change

    6/21/2004 Herkimer NY

I brought my car to the Walmart gargae for an oil change in January 2004. This mechanic laughed as I paid and he stated "we are short-staffed today." The next day there was clicking in my engine and when I checked it out, there was no oil in the engine!! I put 4 quarts in the motor but by then the damage wasdone. I needed a new engine and Wal-MArt said it was not their fault. An "investigation" by their investigator said the fault was mine. I was out 2000 dollars and the store did not care. I no longer shop there and share this story with anyone who will listen!

    TLE service

    3/11/2004 MD

I recently went to Wal-Mart to have my oil changed. When I entered the building everything with my car was fine. In the middle of my oil change I was told that they had to replace my drain plug. No problem. As a former employee of Wal-Mart, I know that this happens on a regular basis. After returning with my new plug, they said that they might couldn't get it in. Well they did get it in, but cross-threaded my plug doing so. My car beganto leak oil the next day. They say that they are not responsible for this since I had a dent in my oil pan. The dent has been there since I purchased the car over two years ago and I have never had a problem with an oil change. I would advise anyone to take their car to any place of business besides Wal- Mart. Sure they may be cheaper but are you getting good service. Now I have to pay $200 or more to get my car fixed . It is ridiculous.

    Refused to change oil

    12/20/2003 Waterloo IL

Wal-Mart in Waterloo, IL....The automotive department cancelled my oil change on Dec. 20th, 2003 telling me that I had a different type of oil plug on my 1994 Pontiac Firebird so they didn't want to chance changing my oil. Does this make any sense? My husband said more than likely it was because the mechanics were tired, over-worked, or just plain cranky and just didn't feel like doing it. My husband changed the oil later that day without a problem. I waited for over 2 hours for them to call my name (They never did, though they said they did) and the only way I eventually found out that my car wasn't even being worked on was when I went back and asked them about my car. What a terrible experience! I thought Wal-Marts were a lot better than this. I am very disappointed in the service I received, or rather did not receive.

Long Wait and very poor service in the tire center

    10/8/2003 Desloge MO

My husband and I went to the new Supercenter in Desloge MO last Saturday at 1:30pm to have 4 new tires put on our car. We went into the store and no one was in line but a female named Tracy asked if she could help us. My husband explained what we needed and she stated she could not help us till another worker exited the computer. The phone rang and she proceeded to take a personal phone call for 20 minutes, leaving us standing there waiting to tell her what tires we wanted put on our car. She remained on the phone, when a young man came to the check out and asked us what we needed and explained that we needed to go out front and fill out a work order before the tires could be put on our car. We did this and when we came back in she was still on the phone. The man that filled out our work order stated it would be done in about an hour so we did some shopping. They called us to the back after about 45 minutes and told us they did not have enough of the tires we were wanting so my husband picked out a cheaper set of tires. We continued to shop waiting for our names to be called that our vehicle was ready and it never happened. After approximately 3hrs., I went to the back to see if they had our car in the bay. They did not. The same car was in the bay as when we arrived and had been there now for almost 3 hours. Our car had not been moved. There was 2 elderly gentlemen there and a school superintendant that I knew that was also waiting for there cars to have tires or other work done to them.
Walmart advertises for you to bring you vehicle in and get tires put on while you shop, but they neglect to tell you that it will take a half a day to do this. We ended up leaving after 3hrs. of miserable service, rude workers and no tires.
The other elderly gentlemen were still there when we left and they were furious. I can not believe that the store manager does not get fired or check on his employees to see that they or not just standing around in the bay or on the phone, for the way the tire center is ran at the new Super Walmart in Desloge MO. I know they have lost our business when it comes to several of their so called fast service with very little waiting. I believe this store should be checked into because it is gaining a bad reputation from the start. My husband and I had our day ruined because of the service we received at this particular store.
