PHOENIX, ARIZONA -- While the product may have been good when packaged, the container is plastic with a plastic cap. There is a ring below the cap, and if the cap is turned about 1/3d of the way around, it is open. And there is no inner cover and no evidence of ever having an inner cover. That means that any package someone tested by turning it even easily to see if it was still sealed has now opened it! And when set back on the shelf, it is now dangerous for the customer who buys it. If they turned the lid back on fully, there is no visual check for a lack of a seal.
I just bought two, and both had been previously opened. They did not smell good and a taste was terrible - obviously contaminated. Even the cheap brands have an inner seal. I guess Hellmann's has no concern for customer's health.
We just purchased a new 22oz container of Hellman's mayonnaise. We used about a third of it and went to close it and store it the refrigerator the lid will not close. Obviously, this means the entire bottle is now wasted since we cannot close it to keep it fresh! To top this off we went to the website to lodge a complaint and could not find an option for customer service, there was a number on the package but only open through the week! Pretty disappointed!
