Cruise.com Complaint - F- Do Not Book With Cruise.com Will Be Scammed For $750 - Cruise On Norweigein Lines

I called Cruise.com on June 20, 2011 to book a cruise for three out of Bermuda for August 5th, 2011. On June 21 I received a email from cruise.com asking me to confirm the information as being correct. The departure date in the email was for August 26, 2011 not August 5th as the agent Rose and I discussed. I replied to the email stating the departure date was incorrect.

My wife called cruise.com on June 22, 2011 to make sure that they cancelled the incorrect cruise departure date on August 26. The representative stated that we ONLY HAD 24 hours to the minute to cancel the reservation without penalties!!!!. I responded that we answered the email immediately and DID NOT CONFIRM the information as the departure date was incorrect. DID NOT MATTER.............Cruise.com informed me that I would be charged $250 per person ($750) penalty charge for not cancelling within 24 hours. I stated that the agent ROSE NEVER MENTIONED ANY CANCALLATION OR PENALTY charges during our booking conversation on June 20th, 2011!!!

We did answer the email as soon as we opened it letting Cruise.com know that they booked the wrong date..................did not matter......................Customer service at Cruise.com said we had until 11:13Am the day after booking to make any changes. We did not even get the email with confirmation details till the next day!!!!! If the departure date was correct we would not have to cancel.........STILL BEING CHARGED A $750 Penalty. I think this company STINKS for customer SERVICE and in my opinion is crooked as they never mention any penalty with 24 hours to the minute after booking.

How can you know they booked the wrong date until you receive the email and if you do not sit by your computer for 24 hours and check emails every minute........................you will have very few minutes left to receive the email from Cruise.com and respond to it within the deadline!!!!.

Why book with this kind of a company when there are much more reputable companies around. Now I see why they are not BBB approved.

When I followed up with a call on June 22 2011 to Rose, my Cruise.com agent agent she was unwilling to admit that SHE made a mistake in the booking date and then for the FIRST TIME ROSE informed that I would incur a $750 penalty for not cancalling within 24 hours to the minute. I guess my email stating the departure date was incorrect did not count!!!!! This company will be short lived by rude employees who think they are rightious. STAY AWAY FROM CRUISE.com I had to contact my credit card company to dispute this charge!!!! BEWARE!!!!! It has been years since someone has upset me over the phone as Cruise.com has done.

The penalty for changes is to be expected, once you make a reservation using a credit card.

The issue to me is that there is evidently no confirming email sent until a day after reservations are made. Perhaps this is because it takes time for CRUISE.COM needs to contact the cruise line.

In my mind, if they are going to conduct business this way, they need to record the initial conversation to later prove the date was as they claim.

I always book with the cruise line because they will match any online price and there cancellation policy is pretty liberal as they tell you the canel by and final payment due date. You can also review your booking immediately after the purchase.

I can understand a charge for changing your trip, but NOT when its their mistake. And sending the trip confirmation that close to the deadline is ridiculous.

At least you filed a dispute with your CC company. I hope it works out.
