Select Comfort Complaint - Commercials misleading--use caution - Queen Bed

Queen Bed - Complaint
Review by mjjohny on 2011-08-22
A $1900.00 Mistake!!

I am currently again unable to sleep due to the air mattress bed, so I'd figure that I should share my grief (and how I wish I could of spent that wedding money on a better bed).
My wife and I purchased the product, a queen size model QS29PSE 07/27/09 and from day 1 its been a nightmare. First off my wife and I discovered that we could not even sleep on our own side of the bed without being sent to the sinkhole in the middle of the bed. One of your reps at a sleep store recommended that we pump the bed up a few times a week to 100 to rid the sinkhole. To our dismay, we have been doing that (surprisingly my cars do not require this much attention). To this day we still deal with that. Secondly, I wake with hip, knee, and lower back pain (this includes experimenting with the different numbers a couple weeks at a time). My wife who is now approaching 2 months pregnancy is having hip, neck and shoulder numbness (dealing with numbness for months) when she sleeps on her side. I am not impressed with going to the chiropractor to get adjusted only to get bent out of alignment later in bed. I really want a refund so I can get a better bed so we can sleep to be productive. I am really surprised at how others we run into who also are dis-satisfied your product. Truthfully, we do not speak highly of your product to our co-workers, friends, or family and tell them to not take the commercials seriously. We also purchased a mattress pad that controls temp (421279) and that did not fair well as we struggled with controlling bed temp at night (187.00 mistake). We took that off after a few months and its a closet item.

A very good review. You've pointed out the flaws in this product in an honest and objective manner. It looks good on TV, but it's design doesn't perform well in actual use.

I agree, this bed sounds awful. It shouldn't take that much effort just to get a good night's sleep. I'm sorry you found it out the hard and costly way. It seems all of today's newfangled products are more trouble than they're worth.

Good review. I've seen similar complaints about this bed. I would never buy one. I like a good old-fashioned box spring and mattress.

Great review. We also went and checked out Sleep Comfort Beds, and right away what turned me off was the gap in the middle.

No way was that bed going to be functional for us! On the plus side, they did give my husband and myself, very nice water bottles for coming in.

I wonder if there is a big difference between different models of the Sleep Number bed. We have had our Sleep Number m7 Queen for about a month now, and it is BY FAR the most comfortable bed we have ever experienced. I notice no gap in the middle, although I don't normally lie in the middle. Also my wife and I use sleep numbers 40 and 30, respectively, so not a great difference between the two sides. Perhaps a larger difference in settings for each side would make the boundary more noticeable. For me, this mattress is clearly the best mattress I have ever slept on by a wide margin, and in 77 years, that is a lot of nights of sleep and a lot of different mattresses. For me it has raised the bar on my concept of what a really good mattress is.
