I ordered a book through "Any_Book" on Amazon when it was clearly stated "item in-stock", a couple of days after I placed the order, I received an email stating that my order was canceled due to the item's "out of stock", and my credit card would not be charged. A couple of weeks later, they sent me another email asking how satisfied I was with my purchase, and please give them 5 out of 5 rating, etc. They don't seem know what they are doing.

I have had a similar incident--although not at Amazon. I placed an order online with the item being listed as in-stock. I received an email a few days later stating the item was out of stock.
When I called customer service, I was told the online inventory was not synched with the wherehouse inventory. The rep stated that sometimes an item is listed on line as being available when in actuality it is not.
