LAFAYETTE, COLORADO -- I really can't understand how it is we pay nearly 10 times the amount shown right on the bill, for the energy used in our home. For instance, October 2011, $2.00 of gas & $7.00 of electricity cost us, wait for it, $78.00. You just have to love a monopoly, if you happen to own it, otherwise it sucks. Our son who lives 12 miles away in Longmont, in a home similar to ours, pays about $15-$20 per month for his energy due to Longmont's "Light and Power". Thanks so much to Xcel for overcharging us every month, and for fighting to prevent local municipalities from developing their own energy capabilities.

Wow! That's all you pay? I need to move out to Colorado. Here in PA, electricity for an apartment - one bedroom oven rarely used, not a lot of lights and a rarely used TV costs about $100/month. Unfortunately monopolies hurt us all. Good luck in getting that resolved.
