ABC Broadcasting Complaint - On Demand Advertising - Television

Television - Complaint
Review by joebadodoughuts35 on 2011-12-30
NEW YORK, NEW YORK -- I hate that when I watch an on demand television program that I can't fast forward. Think about it, if I had interest in the advertisement, I'd watch it, but no, I am forced to watch 45 Muppet Movie commercials. I wouldn't go see that movie if my attendance cured cancer. I've begun to just not watch shows that can't be fast forwarded. ABC/Disney are the absolute worst in that regard. Nearly every on demand show prevents fast forward. Madison Avenue must be severely retarded to recommend this tact to ABC. Personally, I put advertisers that implement this kind of mean-spirited advertising on my "do not support list", i.e. The Muppet Movie. I won't watch the movie in the theater, on cable, DVD, computer, and not I won't let my kids or grandkids ever watch it. I hope ABC/Disney pulls their marketing head out of a specific sphincter muscle.

Likewise, I hate putting up with 10 minutes of promo and security garbage to view a DVD that I have bought and paid for.

When you copy a dvd, you will copy the main movie and not the FBI warning, Trailers, and dvd menus.

The OP isn't talking about watching a DVD. They are talking about watching a show On Demand. There are commercials that cannot be fast forwarded when they are watching shows from ABC On Demand.

I was looking at Chuck's comment and responded to it.

I'd gladly see a movie I didn't want to watch if it cured cancer. I'd rush out to see it right away, actually.

You can use Page Up to skip ahead 5 minutes, which bypasses the commercials, then rewind back if it's too much. You can use PageDn to skip back 5 minutes. Once the networks figure this out they will probably find a way to put the kibosh on that workaround too.
