Cell phone - Complaint
Review by Cecilia on 2005-12-02
PALO ALTO, CALIFORNIA -- As a consumer from your state, I felt it was my responsibility to bring to your attention the following incident.
One of our phones was stolen while traveling, we called Nextel to report the theft and to cancel that phone line. As we returned home we find that Nextel is charging us for calls made by the stolen line to the amount of more than 2,000 dollars. Nextel claims that somebody has called again to reinstate the line. We never called to reinstate that line since the phone was stolen. We have been disputing this charge for about 6 months, (spending hours with them on the phone)they have asked us to write a letter explaining the situation--we did. They have cancelled our service yesterday when they said they wouldn't because the charge was in dispute. At this time this is the only way I can communicate with my husband who is currently in Peru. My son was on the phone with their dispute office on 11/30, at this time they said they would not discontinue service, the next day they did. My son called back and after tracing with them his converstion of the previous day, they reinstalled service.
PLease help us. We have not incurred in the calls they are charging us. We called immediately after the phone was stolen
As a resolution, I would like the following:
We would like to call them and establish the truth: We did not call to reinstal the stolen line, therefore we are not responsible for the huge amount(2000 dollars)incurred by that stolen line. Furthermore, I would not be surprised if you could find similar case to ours. Please conduct an investigation.
We thank you in advance for whatever help you can give us.
Please contact me if you need more details regarding this incident.
