The same thing happened to me a few years back Sam. I have never had a Facebook account period. I was receiving emails from a number of people on my regular email account. I recognized several of the names so was able to determine it was one individual these were intended for. I contacted her by email and long story short it was realized by the individual my email address was substituted for hers on her account. They got it straight (husband and wife) in short order. I never went through Facebook. The couple got it corrected thank goodness.
Perhaps, in your case, someone who is a Facebook Member can suggest what you do. It is aggravating.

7.Add a description for why you're reporting the profile (timeline)
8.Check the box next to I confirm that this report is correct
9.Click Continue to submit your report
If someone created a Facebook profile (timeline) pretending to be you and you don’t have a Facebook account, please file a report here.
This is very interesting. Can you access the FB account? If not, I'll bet you can get the password reset so that you can, assuming it was setup with an email account you can access. (Use the good ol "Forgot your password?" link.)
Here's a link to an article I found about how to deactivate/delete a FB account. Maybe it will help you:
3 weeks ago my friend found a fake Facebook profile that passes through her. She denounced correctly selecting the option: "This account is passed through me." Then from your contacts and I helped to denounce the bill stating that "the bill is being passed by an acquaintance."
I was reading in the help section on Facebook, that if a person made a fake account and does not use Facebook account, you can report it by sending a copy of your ID.
In this case if Facebook does nothing to remove the fake profile, can use this option if you use Facebook account? Is the risk that Facebook will delete your personal account?
sorry for my English.
