HOUSE.com Complaint - In my opinion, House.com is an absolute Sham! - Real Estate Lead Service

Real Estate Lead Service - Complaint
Review by woobie1 on 2005-12-31
House.com offers lead service not only to consumers but to Real Estate agents as well. They guarantee that the leads/contact info of the consumer is exclusive to the agent, but that it's be verified and the consumers truly wants contact from the agent. I signed up with them with their promise to be matched up with future home buyers/sellers at $200+ a month/ 6 month contract. Needless to say, this does not take place. Not only did they not send me ligitimate contact information/leads, but when there was a good telephone number, the "buyers" would be very upset that their information was given out. My warning is to both the consumer and fellow Real Estate agents. For consumers, your name, address and phone number is sent out to several Real Estate agents...Privacy Act? For fellow agents- we work long hard hours to try to make a living in helping others!! House.com is not only taking advantage of our desire to help others and build our clientele, but are stealing our hard earned money in the process. They are not only doing a disservice to the public, but also giving honest, hard working Real Estate agents a bad reputation!! So to all, please reconsider signing up with House.com, at minimum, do NOT sign a contract with them...you will loose out at every level. I have requested resolution and a full refund a minimum of $800, but have had absolutely NO repsonse from House.com.

Thank you for allowing me to voice my opinion! Happy Holidays!

I had a call ( I do small home repairs ) from some company that wanted me to pay $30 for a lead ( just a lead ) if the job size was upto $150 and like $60 if it was 150 to 300 and $1500 job size would have been $125. Then they would sell the "lead" to no more than 2 other contractors. so they get $90 and I get to fight with 2 others for a tiny job. I declined, it made on sence to me. Glad you brought it up in a different manner.

I too have been a victim of House.com. I am currently fighting with my credit card company for a refund. I have tried to locate as many realtors and real estate agents who have been innocent victims of this fraud and deception.

There are many companies out there doing the same thing...selling us leads that are not leads and charging a pretty penny for them. I signed up with House.com and within 5 days knew I had been scammed. I called wanting to talk to the sales representative who sold me this bill of goods. I was told, she is not available at the moment. I then asked to speak to the representative who walked me through a 5 min. orientation of how to move around the house.com site. Guess what? I was told she was not available either. I then asked to speak with a supervisory, and was told there is noone here at the moment. Surprise, Surprise!!

I then told the receptionist I was displeased with the service and the quality of the leads. I told her that due to the fact that house.com had not lived up to their end of the bargain, I was cancelling my subscription. She told me that I was going to be charged the termination fee of 50% of the contract about. This amount totals $2772.00. Can you believe this? For WHAT?? Not one good lead. Not to mention that almost each and every lead they sent me was outside of the ten mile radius I was guaranteed. I only had the service for 5 days!! What a rip-off!! We need to stop these guys as well as any other businesses doing the same thing and conducting business this way. The credit card companies need to stand by us, their clients. They need to help us fight these crooks.

I too have been ripped off by House.com. After my six month contract with them I sent an E-Mail cancellation of future services with them in July. I was tired of the over-priced useless leads. Six months of leads turned up nothing, most couldn't even be contacted. But it gets better - House.com kept billing me and sending worthless leads. In October, 3 months after cancellation, I had a heated conversation with them - they claimed that I never cancelled. However, I had proof of the sent E-Mail and copies were both E-Mailed and faxed to them. They just ignored the cancellation. Today they hit my bank account for services not provided - they hadn't even sent their worthless leads to me. They don't understand what cancellation means and are just on the Internet to rip us agents off - that's my opinion based upon my experience with them. When you talk to a person they are rude and arrogant and refuse to listen to you.

Because of this I have filed a fraud complaint against them and tomorrow I am taking all my paperwork to the bank to get the withdrawals reversed. If there are any class-action attorneys out there - this organization needs to be taken down a few notches. I bet the complaints here are only the tip of the iceberg on these guys.

So anybody out there thinking about using them - don't - you will be sorry.
