Rust on the inside of my Whirlpool Washing Machine
Model WTW5590VQ - Complaint

PROSPECT, KENTUCKY -- I purchased a Whirlpool Washing Machine in December of 2010. The washing machine is delveloping rust on the inside. There is one spot about the size of a quarter that has rusted and there is rush forming around many of the perforated holes on the cylinder. I had a service company come out to look at it, and they said they thought it was defective. They said there was nothing they could do, however, because it was not a mechanical issue. They told me to contact Whirlpool. I contacted Whirlpool, and they said it was out of warranty and there is nothing they can do. What they really meant is they don't care and they are not going to do anything. I will never buy a Whirlpool appliance again. I purchased this washing machine through my home warranty company who recommended it, and I have called them and filed a complaint. I don't think they should be recommending manufacturers who refuse to fix problems like this. Consumers should expect manufacturer's to stand behind their products! If this doesn't happen often, and it's just a defect, then why won't they do something? My guess is that it happens a lot, and that they have made a strategic decision that it costs too much to stand behind them. I would never recommend Whirlpool based on my experience.
