DANVILLE, PENNSYLVANIA -- Facebook will not allow me on to my FB page unless I give them my phone number. They did the same thing to my wife and she gave them her phone number. Now her cell phone in inundated with phone calls from soliciters who said they got her phone number from FACEBOOK! So beware everyone. If Facebook demands your phone number in order to access your account, don't give it to them or else your phone will be jammed with idiots trying to sell you something.

I never provide my phone number for companies like that...I give them a fake number or I just reverse two numbers off my real phone number. There is no reason for them to have my number....I don't even give credit card companies my phone number because I pay my bills and as long as I pay them, there is no reason for them to call me.

I haven't either, Big Al...but that doesn't mean much because I have several FB accounts and they all seem to be different...different formats, different features...One has that stupid date line thing and the others have the old formats...I didn't change anything on any of them, it's just the way they are.

I have a free Google Voice number that I give to people that I feel may be a pain in the tail. It's perfect and it doesn't ring. My real phone number leaked out to the political people and they call me all day long so I feel your pain.

There have been times when checking in from 'new' locations for my 'safety' websites ask for telephone numbers...some are confirmed against your earlier supplied numbers, some are used to send a new code to allow you to sign in again. yeah right, pain in the neck - provide a fake number or a temp number works unless you are waiting for a new access sms...too bad one can not opt out of that 'security' aka marketing BS

;They are requiring a phone number for each account to try to avoid dummy accounts. I think the problem stems not so much from not providing FaceBook with your number but if you make it visible on your account (in your contact information) and it isn't private then anyone and everyone can get your number. I think that is what they mean when they say they got it from FaceBook.

I'm pretty sure I have seen what you are talking about. There is a way to bypass that screen and continue on to your page, but you have to really look for it. They don't make it obvious.
