Has anyone had Sears do interior painting

Painting
Review by jsh on 2013-02-03
7 years ago I purchased replacement windows from Sears and was very happy with the windows and install. When I decided to replace my bay window I called them and it has been a nightmare since. First of all the window is not what I understood the salesman was selling me. My mistake, since he kept telling me "yes it will look just like what you have" I never asked to see what he was talking about and when I signed off on it the 17 inch side windows measurement didn't register that they were 1/2 the size of what I had. Yes I've complained and they have said no they won't replace.

Then I was under the understanding that it was "paint" ready. When it was installed the seat had an area right in the middle that Sears is calling burs - I'm calling wood shavings. It looks like you took a cheese grater over a chunk of cheese but didn't finish. I questioned the installer and he assured me paint would cover them fine. Well now I have a mess. After 3 months of "discussing" with 3 different people who "want to make me happy" at Sears, they've made their final offer. They've offered me to pay for someone to come sand it and repaint which I've been unable to find anyone to do. Now they are offering to send one of their people out to do it. I'm tempted to try to do it myself since I'm not happy with their work at this point. Any suggestions???

Try a local cabinet shop to see if they will refinish. Just be sure to get a quote, in writing, and get soars approval, in writing, before proceeding.

as horrible as sears is with everything else, i would never allow them to do any work in my house.

I wouldn't hire Sears to clean by toilets, so personally the thought of them doing anything that requires more skill I would avoid.

Trusting Sears to do interior painting is like trusting Maaco to paint your car. Don't even consider it!!
