Don't Buy Targets Extended Warranty or Service Plan

Target Extended Warranty - Complaint

ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI -- Target does everything they can not to cover repairs. Not a good value. Ipod would not sync and Target says they will not cover due to physical damage (bent pin in charging port) Even when it was purchased the employee in the electronics department said it would replace it if the screen cracked. The warranty claims Normal Wear and Tear Coverage not the case.

When the ipod was returned they are the one that damaged it because the connector does not even go into the ipod. This was not the case when it was sent, it was charging but not syncing. You will get the run around on the phone from them. Don't buy targets plans there are many better options look around. Buy from the Apple store.

I don't think you should buy an extended service policy anywhere. First of all you have to pay upfront for a future possibility of not having to pay for a repair. If you do need it then you have to fight with them to try to get whatever is wrong covered. Most repairs are not. You then have to use their service for the repair no matter how long it takes. 99% of the policies have repair limits so if you do get a "lemon" the extended warranty has limited value. Also the repair work that is done usually has no warranty in and of itself so for example if you get a motor replaced 10 days before your contract expires you get a 10 day warranty. The negatives far exceed the positives. This applies to cars appliances tools etc. Keep that extra money in your pocket.

Even if you did not purchase a warranty plan from Apple you may want to check with them. If you have a local store with a "genius bar" you will likely find them extremely helpful for your situation. If not, even if you must ship the IPOD to Apple for repair, the cost may be less than you expect.
