Fraudulent Credit Report Item - Bellsouth Service

Based on all the news on credit fraud, I decided to pull my credit report. Glad I did - as there were three items on the report that do not belong to me. One of them was in good standing... but wasn't mine - and the other two were posted by two separate firms on a bellsouth bill.

I called Bellsouth- having had service from the same address for 5 years - and since both listing showed a current date.

Bellsouth confirmed that they have never reported me for collections and that my account has always been paid on time.

They could not research the matter furhter without the phone number for which the credit listing was made.

Since the credit report did not show either a contact number for NCO or any phone number information - I reported to the credit service that this was a fraudulent posting.

All have been removed except for NCO who claims that it is a valid bill.

Since I have never had other Bellsouth numbers - how do I go about getting this removed? I have read the HORROR stories on line about people dealing with NCO and it seems like what I should do is send a certified mail return receipt requested - or is there another way?

This bill is not mine - nor has anyone ever contacted me about any delinquent bills - and certainly not Bellsouth.

Tom

Send a letter to the CRA and tell them that NCO falsely confirmed the validity, and the original creditor can back that up (good idea to get something faxed to you in writing from Bellsouth) - Tell them that if they fix it you'll consider NOT naming them in the suit you're planning to file against NCO for FCRA violations.
