7-Eleven, Inc. Complaint - I purchased 13 gallons of sludge - Bad Fuel

Bad Fuel - Complaint
Review by CaptAdams35 on 2006-07-14
INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA -- On 08 October 2005, while travelling to New York, I stopped in the 7-Eleven Convenience Store located at I-70 and Post Drive in Indianapolis, Indiana. I purchased 12.77 gallons of sludge that has ultimately done over $14,000 in damages to my 2004 Isuzu Rodeo with the 3.5 liter Direct Injection engine. I have submitted numerous receipts substantiating my claim against them, yet they have done nothing. 12 miles and 45 minutes later I was at an Advance Auto Parts store putting HEET water remover, Lucas Fuel Additive, and octane booster trying to clear my fuel system out. Same month I am replacing my entire fuel system, next month I am replacing catalytic converters, next month I am replacing 5 of the 6 fuel injectors, now I need a whole new engine. They sent me a response to my request in the amount of $34.21 to cover the cost of the tank of sludge I purchased. I hardly find that amusing at all. If anyone else has had a similar incident from the same company, please feel free to contact me by email CaptAdams35@hotmail.com . I fully intend to bring this to light in the public eye, and possibly file a class action law suit against them. Thanks in advance for any assistance or support.

Oh man I would be fuming. I can see how it might be hard to prove unless someone is able to inspect the tanks while there still is a problem with the fuel quality. Otherwise it just becomes a battle of who is telling the truth. Good luck!

I know, it's hindsight in 20/20...but it may have been to your advantage to go back and purchase a gallon of their bad gas in a clean can (from the same pump) as soon as you realized there was a problem. No blame on you for not doing it...just a suggestion for those so-affected in the future. Any chance that a number of other customers had a similar experience? Good luck cap'n.

I just realized I had forgotten to add the fact that I have receipts from 12 miles down the road, plus contact with an automotive professional right after I left the station. All dated and stamped with times. There's no grey area for them to deny any of my charges. Again, thanks for your support in my endeavor.

Cap-If you haven't done so, you might try making posts on the hundreds of auto enthusiast and car repair sites that are out there. You may find someone else to stand with you in your complaint.

You need receipts from the gas station that you bought the gas from, which includes the receipt. Also, some gas from that station couldn't have hurt. It may be to late now, but do you know anyone else that has complained about that particular gas station and there gas.

I have the fuel receipt, and the fuel treatments receipt from 12 miles down the road, I had the fuel filter with the "sludge" residue in it, but it got "lost" when I mailed it to their insurance people. But, I did have a passenger that rode in my vehicle alot before and after this happened. My father, the chief of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, was aware of my vehicle's "perfection" prior to stopping there, and it's demise afterwards. I will check out the auto sites. Thanks for your help guys.
