Terrible customer service - dishwasher

Posted By: bobvans on 8/25/2006

Whirlpool has the worst customer service of any organization I have ever dealt with. I have had both Whirlpool and Kitchenaid products for years and had great success but this time I actually had to deal with customer service in Benton Harbor and have been totally frustrated. I actually wrote the Chairman of the Board twice and after weeks and weeks, have no resolution only my money returned. I now have a dishwasher that is basically not fixable and nothing being done about it.

I finally wrote the Better Business Bureau, so we will see if they finally have a solution to my problem.

If you've had your money returned, what seems to be your problem? Can't you buy another dishwasher?

I don't understand that either. Isn't returning the money resolving the issue? What exactly was the problem?

I evidently wasn't clear enough. The money was what I paid for the two replacement racks not the original price of the dishwasher. The racks never were assembled so they gave my money back but no solution on how to assemble the racks.

If your machine is out of warranty, it's out of warranty. If your complaint is merely about aging racks, then I'd say you were compensated pretty well. If you can't figure out the assembly, have a friend give it a shot. (tr)

Bottom line you're not a happy camper which is not that unusual for whirlpool consumers these days. It's sad yet another industry has join the ranks of a throw away society. Big bro gave me the best advice with appliances ~~ buy cheap and plan on buying often or more often then our folks with their 1974 (working fine) gas dryer.

Insightful post Awspie. Good to have another appliance advisory here! :)

Call up some local servicing dealers in your area. You don't mention how old your unit is, but it must have some age for the racks to be shot. We always grabbed decent used racks out of replaced D/W's before we throw them out. You might find someone who has ones that fit, or can help better than whirlpool on new replacements.
