Life is too short dude, buy a soda
Three choices: 1)Leave.....2)Run inside and get Auntie her water so she can take her medicine. 3) Blow it out of porportion so you maybe get two free WHOPPER JRS.
Evidently, they're in business to make money.
I find this hard to believe, unless you weren't willing to pay for it.
Don't they sell bottled water or is that McDonald's?
"MY AUNT WENT OFF LIKE A TYPICAL CUBAN" I don't even know what to say to that one. If you want water buy a bottle. BK is trying to make money. there are lots of people out there that will get a free cup of water instead of buying a drink, they add up. I might suggest carrying water from home, then you wont' have this problem.
Well, Burger King is a bit stingy on giving away free stuff from what I have noticed. Mcdonalds is a lot better. (Ofcourse this is coming from one experience at Burger King) Anyways when taking medicine the best drink to take is water or juice, but they do have soft drinks, you simply could have ordered a small soft drink and given it to her. However I find it ridiculous that they could not even given you a water in the cup, especially since you are a paying customer and did not just go in there and ask for a glass of water without ordering anything. One small cup of water is not that expensive. I do however think that you are making a b... more >>

emt c -She's just asking for a cup of water, while I agree she is making a big deal of nothing I do think they should have given a cup of water to her. She was a paying customer. Also they do not need to fill the cup they just needed to give her enough to take her medication. True she could have gotton a soft drink but some people believe that mixing soft drinks and medication is bad. Also from this letter it looks like the choice of paying for the water was not even offered.
amaniR - Good suggestion, but perhaps the Aunt has a strict diet and isn't supposed to drink Soda, I just thought of that after reading your comment.
Mr.Mafia:
Life is too short dude, buy a soda, milk, juice, diet cola, coffee, milkshake or whatever liquid refreshment the establishment might sell that fits into Auntie's dietary restrictions
There does that satisfy? I aim to please :P
Really Amani, all this fuss about a drink of water. Mr. Mafia, maybe you should "make BK an offer they can't refuse" to insure that "Aunt Martha" can take her meds on time in the future. Thanks.
Nah zz the fuss was about MrMafia correcting my initial comment, I just hate that, makes me cranky and peevish. :P But I agree with your comment on the offer they can't refuse, might be worth a shot
I can't think of any ff establishment that gives away water for free. Chalk it up to not being prepared?
It varies from store to store especially in the summer.
Maybe Cuba will give you free water...you should go there and find out.
BTW The Cubans in Miami has gotten enough freebies.
ZZ should know, he works the drive-thru.
Since I live in the desert I have learned to take water everywhere I go. Even in the winter. Also the fact that I regularly take meds I am never without a bottle of water. But I think BK was rude about the situation. Why couldn't they charge a quarter for the paper cup and give her some water. With the handfulls of ketchup they alway throw in the bag, those would more than pay what a cup costs. Fill it with some water and keep the condiments. There, money saves. I say the place is EL CHEAPO!
Mr.Mafia also thinks disabled people shouldn't drive so... amani pay him no mind!
Listen my story is true, I have no need to lie or make-up a story to this caliber for attention or free anything. To those who think that I am making a big deal out of this, that's your opinion, but I feel as a US born citizen as well as a human being, NOONE, should be denied a cup of water. Regardless if I am a paying customer, homeless, or a stingy customer, NOONE should be denied a basic necessity of life. As DORCAS stated before, they waste more on giving handfuls of ketchup & condiments -vs- a cup of tap water that may cost them less than pennies. As for the uneducated comments about Cuba and whether free water is provided or too man... more >>

For truly I tell you, whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you bear the name of Christ will by no means lose the reward."
"I will not return to this establishment; they don't deserve my hard earned pennies"...thank God for little favors.
So is this the only place to eat in Miami?
There are a certain caliber of humans who strive to be certified morons and they do error in representing the businesses they work for. Lots of people read "MY 3 Cents", if by chance you happen to be the guilty party denying this person water and reading this, "Y O U are a FRIGG'N Moran! GET YER A$$ out of your head! I hope your BOSS fires you soon! Y O U idiot!
Kid 7, I'm not about to give you free water, so don't ring my doorbell. Why? Because I PAY for it, that's why, as I'm sure BK does. Guess what? I tend to take water with me wherever I go, as I also have to take regular meds. Being prepared is the key, here. Taking some personal responsibility works, too. I don't expect anything for free. IF, for some reason (and, it could happen) I really needed that water, I would have offered to pay for it. My guess is it would have been cheap and quite easy.
Why are you feeding your 60-year old grandmother Burger King food? Seriously, we older folks need better nutrition than this. You should rethink where you take your granny to eat!
brenda - bringing discussions from a past thread to this discussion, classly, especially since this has nothing to do with that topic.
The simplest solution: buy a bottle of water. Think about it, you have a business, why? To make money. You carry bottled water on your menu. How can you make money if you give water away when you sell it? Answer: you can't. Every time you give someone a cup of water, you have lost a sale.

In August, 2002, a friend of mine had their car break down in Casa Grande, and coasted into a vacant lot. I spent five hours on my back on the asphalt, removing and replacing the starter in their Pontiac. Without being asked, in any way shape or form, the manager of the Burger King across the street brought us all over a couple of bottles of ice cold water, then refused when we offered to pay. He told us to just signal if we needed more. When I got finished, the four of us went to the BK and ate. I have never had a Whopper taste that good. The food was great, and the service could not have been better, and they still refused to let us p... more >>

I'm A BK employee & thats not right for them to not give you water. Although we perfer that u ask when you at the speaker & not by the time your at the window & the rest of ur stuff is ready. Because if u ask at the window that takes up more time on our drive thru timer to go & make it for you. Thats probably y that employee told u that although thats not right either.
Why would a business that makes money by selling water give it away to you for free? Shelter is a basic necessity of life.. i don't see anyone giving away apartments for free. Food is a necessity of life. Get a clue. How dare you expect free water? If i was working that drive through, I would have pissed out the drive through window and onto your almost-dead grandmother.
