3 rebates offered on this order - all a hoax - Sony 1.6GHz VAIO® Centrino Intel® C ore Duo DVDR
Posted By: Trav on 5/11/2007

Location: 500 N. Central Expressway, Plano, TX

On 26 MAR 2007 I ordered the Sony laptop with:

1. A promised upgrade to Windows Vista. Turned out that that upgrade thru Sony had expired, even though eCost was offering it effective until the end of April! My Phone calls to eCost not returned.

2.

The computer was offered with an eCost rebate of $60. I filled out that rebate form and copied it. Last week received an email that my submission was invalid because the order number was not included and I would receive additional information via mail. Looked at my copy of submission and the order number was clearly printed in the space where asked on the rebate form. Mail did arrive and I have sent them the rebate copy with the required order number clearly circled.

3. Also on my order was '4 AA NiMh Battery Charger Plus Rechargeable Batteries
part # ULTR ULT31792 costing $15 and with a promised $15 rebate. Received a postcard stating that the submission had not had a copy of the invoice. It had but I have sent another one.

4. Also on my order was 8GB Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) Card
part # PTRT PSF8GSDHC4 with a promised $20 rebate which I submitted but have not heard from.

Do NOT do business with eCost!

As a resolution, I would like the following:

Put them out of business.

Please contact me if you need more details regarding this incident.

These scam business's invent reason not to pay the rebates. Then they count on wearing you down and your giving up on your money. eCost.com has always been one of the worst offenders.

That's a pretty stiff resolution - take no prisoners! Mwahahaha! (evil laugh).

companies like this should either be forced out of business or ordered to pay (high) penalty fines and honor the rebates.

As I have posted elsewhere, I refuse to purchase anything that offers a rebate. I tell them if they want to do business with me, they can give me the money off then and there, and not promise to give it to me at some future date, if I jump through all their hoops, and if the rebate offer didn't expire three months before I bought the item. I have never ever received a promised rebate, and I am sick of being ripped off.

ECost stole my money also. IF they have a rebate you WILL NOT GET IT BACK. They should be closed, how can they get away with this? I did not get bsck 4 out of 4 rebates. I have never had a rebate send to me until I used Ecost.
