Kentucky Fried Chicken Compliment - Not Bad And Very Filling As Well!!! - Mashed Potato Bowl... $3.85

Mashed Potato Bowl... $3.85 - Compliment
Review by zzrokk on 2007-08-07
DENVER, COLORADO -- I am sure that most of us have seen the ads for KFC's "famous bowls" by now. They look like something a person on a bad hangover or botched lobotomy would fix but actually it is quite good. Sure, if I had my choice I would do my own cooking but it was late and I was a little tired. Mondays can be tough for us "weekend warriors". The first thing that I noticed was that the bowl is a lot smaller than the looks of the ones on the commercials but that's advertising and I understand that. No, I am not getting bigger!

Anyway, every bite you get a bite of potatoes and gravy, large bite sized pieces of chicken, corn and the cheese that I could have done without. I couldn't eat the whole bowl! Well, obviously you can see that I was impressed especially after my last review complaining about KFC. The service was fast I didn't have to give them my name this time. So if you are a "mash and gravy" lover like me, tell them to go "light in the cheese and heavy on the gravy". Oh, and don't forget the napkins, I think that most of us know why. Good job Colonel!

Stands and applauds. Very helpful zz. I'm giving you a stewie on this one. Cha-ching! Maybe we can now use this meal as an analogy for a crowded situation. You know, like "I felt I was mingling in a KFC famous bowl".
Posted by zzrokk on 2007-08-07:
I gotta agree. That soup analogy was pretty bad.

Great review, Zzrokk! I've had this before, and, couldn't finish it, either. Very tasty, and very filling.

I'm actually in the mood for one right now.

Very good, zzrokk. I am not big fan of the bowl, as I am really not a fan of KFC mash and gravy, but this is your opinion and I respect that you liked it. I liked the teriyaki benoless wing combo. The Colonel has something for everyone's tastes. and te food is quite good, usually, and the only problem is once in a while the employees need to be shaken up to make them realize what their job is. Great review, my friend.

This is making me hungry... Definitely will try it out. Reminds me of a "5-way" from Skyway Chili in Cincinnati...

Thanks for the compliments. The KFC that I go to is teamed with good ol' Taco He11. At times I think that KFC has expanded their menu too much and it hurts the quality of their claim to fame...Fried Chicken and having the dual restarants can be a problem. I hear that the chicken fried steak ain't bad a he is a transplant from Oklahoma!

Good boy...I often stop at KFC just for their Mash/Gravy and coleslaw. So, what you're saying is that they throw the whole meal into a bowl...I do like corn on my mash now and then...not sure about everything in one...but I may give it a try and if you let me down, ZZ...you will pay...anyway, nice to see a review from you...Good job!

I've been on the fence about getting their bowls, but I'll have to try it now. KFC's version of a fireman's casserole
Posted by zzrokk on 2007-08-07:
Thanks! DB, don't you forget the napkins. That gravy can sometimes get pretty hot and WE don't want to see any of your "body parts" get scalded!
Posted by zzrokk on 2007-08-07:
Fireman's Casserole, huh?
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2007-08-07:
OH...thanks for bringing THAT painful memory back ZZ! The bullseye on one of my twins was already scalded in the 7th grade...why do you keep bringing up painful memories?

Just looking out for you kid. Had it not been for you dripping FOF condiments onto your busom, you would have never met the cable guy/the man of your dreams!

Trust me...he wasn't anything to dream about!

Good review zzrokk! I had a "bowl" and it was really good. The only problem is that it's about 1200 calories.

You put me in the mood for bowling now!

Yeah the bowls are good, and some KFCs may have the southern style white gravy, that goes perfect with the bowls in my eyes.

I am glad that you enjoyed the bowl. I am a former General Manager at KFC and I just want to let you know that we all called it Heart Attack In A Bowl. Besides the pot pie, probably the worst thing you could eat there. Check the nutritional guide.
Posted by Slashx on 2008-01-21:
Actually the bowl is 5000 calories shawnp80.
If you're looking to gain weight, start eating these.
