General Motors Complaint - Public awareness

Complaint
Review by arnette on 2007-09-24
NEW YORK -- Why does Gm not inform the public @ the way the unions take advantage of the wording of contracts, the " job classification" farce and just the way unions are costing the american public $$$. I have worked along side of and against both UAW and USW workers, and if more americans knew the atrocities that union workers are getting away with, they are less likely to side with the only side they are hearing. Don`t you think we would like to know that"Jane" , the office worker cannot change her own light bulb, because that is a millwrights job.3 hours later!!! Or that" John" the crane operator doesn`t have to do anything for his entire 8 hour shift, because his crane is broke down. Most americans do whatever their boss asks them to do, provided there is no paycut. The unions are ruining our society and the public had the right to know and understand how they operate. Most americans have had no associations with unions, I on the other hand have had my fill of them. When unions were created, they were a good idea, protect the workers, give a decent wage and benefits. Today we have OSHA, EPA, Minimum wages ETC. ETC. A little knowledge on the plight of companies dealing with some of these unions, could go a long way toward that shift in compassion.

When we had strong unions we were much better off. Now employers can do what they want and no one helps the worker.

Union was a good idea during the industrial evolution. Where few laws were written to protect the American workers.

e.g. A NYC city teacher was convicted of child sexual abuse but the school board cannot fire him because he is unionized. He cannot teach, but still get a paycheck.
