I ordered a $220 cell phone from
amazon.com on November 26. It came with a $50 rebate offer from Motorola and a $170 directly from
amazon. I sent in the paperwork to both Motorola and amazon on the same day - December 9. They both said to allow 10 weeks. I got the check from Motorola early February but had still not seen a check for the Amazon.com rebate by mid-March.
I tried to find a number for Amazon but was unsuccessful. Their website led me to another website to check on the status of my rebate. The submission was not even showing up on the website. After emailing the
customer service on the second website, I was told to wait a few weeks and was finally given a phone number. I waited three weeks and got nothing. I emailed back and was asked to be patient due to a major backlog. I was now getting frustrated. It would seem that Amazon is intentionally sitting on this rebate money!
I just called back the rebate line again today, April 25 (almost TWENTY weeks later), was told that the rebate had at least been entered into their systems but that it would be another ten weeks for processing. Now I was thoroughly steamed. I asked for a supervisor and was told that they would tell me exactly the same thing. I told them I didn't care, I wanted to speak with a supervisor. After much back and forth (and attitude) I was sent to a voicemail informing me I would get a call back in two to three business days' time.
I wanted to call amazon directly but it seems that they guard their phone number like gold and post it nowhere on their own website. So I did a search of the
internet, and sure enough found it posted on somebody's private website. Just in case any one is looking for Amazon's customer
service number, it is 1-800-201-7575. There I spoke with a person who actually seemed to care but told me that I would need to be transferred to the cell phone area.
