I opened an Etrade account and everything was fine until I requested funds from another account I own outside of Etrade. The funds ended up not being authorized and ever since my account has been restricted / frozen. I did not receive any notices, alerts, mail, or phone call concerning this problem. I found out through my work which informed me that my direct deposit pay check was rejected. I have been trying to un-restrict / un-freeze my account for three months now.

Anybody else have this happen to them recently, or are in the same situation? I want to start a class action lawsuit against Etrade but need at least 29 more people to qualify.

We closed our ETrade account long ago. They just got to bad to deal with. Forget the class action, attorneys will make a killing and you will get a coupon for a free Starbucks coffee.

My account was frozen in Sept 2007 without any notice or response. I've made over 50 calls and sent numorous certified letters to Arlington VA.

HELP is needed... has anyone had this experience with E Trade!

www.ots.treas.gov - the regulator of E*Trade Bank.
This is where you need to file complaint.
They are TERRIBLE.Freeze account without any notice or communication. Philippine call center with incompetent contract workers.
Contact E*Trade @ their HQ - 703-236-8000 - ask for branch manager.

I had the same thing happen two months ago. May 2008. They froze my account and said that if I wired them money they would remove the restriction. I wired the money, and they still won’t remove the hold! It’s been two months now and my money is still locked in the checking account!

I set up my account on Sept 9th. Answered their security questions and then set up my direct deposit. The first deposit posted Friday, September 19th. Prior to this I tried setting up online bill pay and had to answer their stupid security questions which were mainly about my ex-hubby and his very distant family. I answered the questions the best I could. Then finally called to request this stop. I got my debt card and pin Thursday and began using my account on the 19th.
