Letter to Attorney General:
As a consumer from your state, I felt it was my responsibility to bring to your attention the following incident.
In early May, a representative of
Wells Fargo Bank called my home asking if I would like to apply for a mortgage. I said I was interested in mortgaging an investment property I own outright.
I was told this was business Wells Fargo carried out regularly, and they would proceed with the loan process and get back to me. A loan rep asked me to fax a signed consent form for reseraching my credit, which I did.
Since then contact has been intermittent and unpredictable, with no clear response on the status of my application. It has now been 4 months. The Wells Fargo representative, Doug Van Horn, e-mails me variously, when he does respond to e-mails, first that they 'lost my application,' then later it was found but he has 'been on vacation,' in short, irresponsible use of my personal financial information with no closure. Four months!?
As a resolution, I would like the following:
Wells Fargo to cease and desist any further action on my application, and to stop any further calls I receive from them such as the local branch in Mill Valley which has been soliciting my small business as a client. I would like this in writing so I know this action has been taken. Is this kind of treatment by any chance Wells Fargo's policy with Hispanic customers?
Please contact me if you need more details regarding this incident.
