Kraft Foods North America, Inc., Complaint - Postum vs. The money Grubbers - Postum

Complaint
Review by d_powell on 2007-12-28
Postum lost after one hundred and thirteen years, Kraft in its infant (infinite) wisdom has discontinued Postum. It was not filling their pockets full enough or fast enough. They would rather sell junk sugar filled foods with a high profit margin rather than keep with the founders, of both Post and Kraft, ideals for heather foods for the masses.

I think we need to show Kraft aka Post we won't stand for it and boycott all of their food entities.

Check the web and find any and all Kraft owned business and boycott them, also boycott their food products.

I know this will be asking a lot for some, as Kraft does make some superior products. But if we want healthy products on the store shelves than sacrifices must be made.

There is still Pero is still made because it is made in a health conscious country (Switzerland) not a money hungry one.

Shame on Kraft

Postum was a powdered coffee substitute sold by the Kraft Foods company. It was a kind of roasted grain beverage. The caffeine-free beverage mix was originally created by company founder C. W. Post in 1895 and marketed as a healthy alternative to coffee.--- (From Wiki)

With words like powdered, substitute, beverage mix, marketed as healthy and the like, I can see how this is good for you.

I drank Postum twice--both at the same time--first and last. Yuck!

I haven't seen any updated stories on this product, but if I do, I'll postum.

OK, sheriff, just spit out my coffee with that one. That was funny!

I don't think there were any special health benefits to Postum. Its heyday was when coffee became scarece during WW II. It's amazing it lasted as long as it did.

I didn't even know the stuff was still on the market.
Which is probably the reasoning behind this decision.
Kraft is a business designed to make money.
Why produce what you can't sell?

I saw this on the shelf at Wegman's yesterday. I have never seen it at any other store. Kraft would keep making it if enouh people were buying it!

for something that's ALOT older than I am, it's funny that I've never seen or heard of it.

Talked with Kraft Foods,Inc. (aka Post) today. You can call them to at 1-800-431-7678. They confirmed, apologetically, that Postum was being discontinued due to lack of customer demand. Some say it has been only recently off store shelves. The Kraft customer rep indicated that the company would be open to more consumer
feedback. If you can call them they will take your comments.
