This is a pretty funny post...thanks for the laugh!

Honestly, if it were me, I'd wait for the repairman and just use paper/plastic plates, cups etc. until I got the dishwasher fixed. Anything is better than having to wash all the dishes by yourself with a larger family. You could also turn it into "family time" by enlisting the help of your three kids (if they are old enough) to help out with the clean up and learn a skill they may need when they get older, hey, you never know.
How many people are you feeding if it takes you "hours" each night to wash your dishes? Had you just accepted their original Feb 11th date you would be almost halfway there by now.
Borrow a floor model?
Sears just fired the CEO so maybe things will improve now?
I'm with CYH. I know that your dishwasher broke, and they should fix it, but you are not their only customer. They have many appliances to work on. I am a Mom with 2 children, a husband and 2 nieces that come over daily. I handwash every dish before I put it in the dishwasher and I use a lot of dishes and it has never taken me hours to do that.
I married my dishwasher 40 something yrs ago next Wed., though she is slowing down some. Gotten so I have to help and wash my own. Actually, I've learned if there is a fork in the sink when I walk by I better wash it. I SURE ain't gonna call a repairman.
Hope she don't see this. LOL

paper plates gets my vote.
Jeeze, I wonder how you would deal with a REAL problem :)
Set up a call with Sears at their earliest available and do the dishes by hand until then. Replacing a two year old d/w under warranty just because of scheduling doesn't make good sense.
Sears cant be your only option.Three weeks to wait for a tech(oops,i mean A&E moron) to come out is ridiculous.
jktshff1- Awesome post!
Jktshff... I help the wife with the dishes out of a sense of guilt.. She insists that she likes to cut grass and shovel snow. It's the least I can do..
P.S. you and I are probably the only two people on this site who have been married over 40 years..Most of the folks on this site haven't LIVED that long..LOL

In all sincerity it's awesome there are two saints in the world who could put up with you two for four decades. It gives me hope.

Thanks Stew... I really don't know how or why she's tolerated me this long...LOL
If you're very, very lucky, Susan will be as tolerant of you as our wives are of us...

Yeah jktshff... Mine is a northern Kraut who runs a tight ship and lets me think that I make the decisions...LOL
With a maiden name like Ueberroth I mind my P's and Q's..

Yea OF, ya do or say something and see that little glisten on the cheek......run, hide, even the dog wants out...come back later and apologize..not even knowing for what. Just say yes ma'am I'm sorry.

I hate it when that happens!!!
No, they have used B F Skinner's theory with us. Give us a treat and we will turn around in circles. We've learned how to keep our tails out of trouble.
They trained us good.
Key words are "yes ma'am, no ma'am"..
Stew, are you listening..?? LOL
jkt & OF--It's smart of you to know who really is in charge! Seriously, congrats on your long marriages. We've been married almost 34, but our secret is that we spent a lot of time apart while my hubbie traveled for his job (when our kids were in school). Absence does make the heart grow fonder!
As for the dishwasher problem, I had been without a dishwasher when we have lived overseas, and I have to say it was an adjustment. But, when you've paid for one that you expect to "be there for you", it should last far longer than 2 years before it breaks. Some products just suck.
I still travel 6 states, gone all the time. Don't make the heart grow fonder, we just don't have to put up with each other.
That being said, she's the best golf partner I ever had.
Hey! I commented above Hugh, and my comment was removed?
All I said was that I prefer to hand wash dishes, and, I fail to see how that was offensive to anyone but automatic dishwashers...
jkt--So, it doesn't make your heart grow fonder? We've been together over 38 years (5 before we were married) and still love spending time together. Neither of us have to put up with anything--but we still do enjoy some time to ourselves and it makes for happier people I think. But, good that you share golf!
Leela--Anything to do with "hand" must be on "the bad list".
I wondered when I retired and she was home, how it would be.. It's OK.!!
OF--That's great and the way I hope it is for most. But, I've heard some horror stories. I stopped working so we could spend more time together when he's off working in faraway places--once the kids were done with college. It's also been great--but, I come and go (home) as I please.
And that is why we golf. Quality time together. We golf a lot and love it. We may stop work in the middle of the day and go play golf. Take a couple of day's and go do a golf trip. Like I said, best friend, mate, jeeze..I'm tearing up.
Nice growing old together.
BTW: neither one of us wants to retire.
Night all

Hey, guys. I don't mind putting in the effort to hand wash...it's just that if I buy a dishwasher (not the cheapest model, either), I expect it to last more than 2 years before hitting the crapper. I also don't appreciate it if I purchase an extended warranty (sold as "priority repair service"), and have to wait 3 weeks to get it repaired. Unfortunately, this comes at a time when we were planning to have a big Superbowl party for 20 people, I'm working a crazy work schedule, etc., so it only compounds my irritation at this. Yes, I know this isn't a "real" problem (and trust me, I've dealt with many of those in my lifetime), but I also don't f ... more >>
That's great news, Mikesgrrl!
Yes, I agree that the dishwasher should last longer than 2 years.. My original comment (don't know why it disappeared) about hand washing was -- I didn't mind it, since there are only 2 of us.
Again, thanks for getting back to us with an update!
Did you ever try killing the power to it to see if it resets itself? That works on various items sometimes.
Yeah, we tried killing the power and hitting a series of buttons that's supposed to "reset" the dishwasher. It stopped the flashing green light and made it "operable", but it sounded like it wasn't getting any water and the dishes weren't clean (though the heat dry did work, and burned all the dirt right on to the pans...soooo fun to clean up).
