Lifelock Complaint - Lifelock Commits Fraud - Identity Theft Protection

Identity Theft Protection - Complaint
Review by skyfox37 on 2008-03-06
TEMPE, ARIZONA -- Lifelock offers a 30-day free trial, yet they charge your credit card before you hang up the phone. Even if you close your account with them, they continue to bill your card.

I signed up Feb 6 and was assured three times they would not charge my card. Yet, they charged $176 to my checkcard, placing my checking account in overdrawn status. It took three days to resolve this. I called on 7 Feb to cancel my subscription with them, which was done. However, on March 6, Lifelock again charged $176 to my checkcard, which was taken out of my checking account. I called Lifelock and was told they did not deactivate my card when I cancelled my subscription and they would credit my money as soon as they could (no timetable).

You can do on your own for free what Lifelock claims to do for $176/yr.

Thanks for the review. I was wondering about they guys. I see them on TV, in magazines. They are doing a big marketing push right now...

Never use a debit card for online or phone purchases. An shady company or even a simple entry error can wipe out your account in a millisecond.

You know all it takes to protect your identity is diligence. Get a cross cut shredder and shred all important papers that you want to throw out or if you have a fire place or pit burn them. If you can't afford a paper shredder, put the papers in a sink and turn the water on, mix them around with a spoon or your hands and tear them to bits. Don't give your personal information to anyone who calls you on the phone or sends you an e-mail requesting it. No decent company will ask for your personal information. If you believe there is a problem call the number on your bill for customer service or find one on their website. Never call a number on your caller ID or in an e-mail unless you know for a fact that is the number to the company you want to call. Credit reports can be requested from all 3 bureaus once a year for FREE. And finally, never ever allow a company access to your checking account via their auto pay services. You are in essence giving them full access to take money out of your account with no strings attached, regardless if you have the money or don't. If you want to do any type of auto payment (which I don't recommend) use a credit card or a prepaid credit card. The prepaid's work just like a regular credit card, only you can control the amount on the card, don't have to make a monthly payment, and you can use it safely online knowing that thieves will not be able to access your personal information.

Lifelock

Hi,
2-1-13 someone used my Credit card and spent $544. on western union. I called the Credit card Co. They cancelled my card and sent me a new card.
(The credit card co. called me when it happened.)
Were you aware of this?

BUT yesterday I got the Credit card bill. The $544 was still on the bill, along with your %330. bill for Lifelock. I called the credit card Co. and they said they would take care of it.

I thought your Company was to handle these problems.

I'm waiting to see how you do from here on... whether I'll give you my new credit card # for next years payment.
