Anonymous (10/09/2003) WELL MY 2001 HONDA CIVIC HAS GONE THROUGH 2 TRANSMISSIONS !!!!!!!!!!! AND I THOUGHT BY BUYING A HONDA I WOULD'NT HAVE PROBLEMS

Anonymous (10/30/2003) I think they should look back further into say....the 1998 model Honda Accord for Tranny Problems. I had problems at 85,000 Miles. The car would jump into another gear occationally, then more and more often. I am now at 140,000 miles and I have more occurances. I love my car, dont get me wrong however; now i may have to replace something that should have a longer expectancy then 140,000. When you think of Honda's you think of a "Good, Economical car", that should last. Not something you purchase for a little over 100,000 miles then you have to replace it or pay $ 4000.00 to fix the problem. I didnt buy a Hyndai!

Anonymous (01/12/2004) I am having the very same problem right now with my 2 year old Honda. I cant understand how a 2002 Honda Civic (EX) has spontaneously had a transmission failure! Im in the process with the Honda Customer Relations to get this resolved without having to pay the outrageous amount that I was quoted! $5200!! Amazing...I might have to just take my loyalty to Toyota...

Anonymous (01/17/2004) My 2000 Honda Civic has problem with tranny(it shifts gears I guess) which causes abrupt jumps while slowing down. Not always though. To add to this recently it started getting stuck up in park. It will not let me pull the stick back to drive or Reverse. I need to pump in gas pedal before it works the way it should. So far I made 5 trips to my dealer to get this repaired. No luck so far. Please advice if I can get in touch with Honda customer service & get the problem resolved.
Thanks

Anonymous (01/17/2004) i just bought a brand NEW 2004 honda civic ex and a WEEK after i bought it it started having transmission problems. ive had the car for nearly 2 months now and i keep having the same problem. and i cant stand the fact that honda's warranty DOES NOT cover loaner cars! i will NEVER buy another honda again.

I have a 2000 LX, The automatic just went out a 69,480 miles. Was serviced at 35,000. I think this is unacceptable for a HONDA transmission to go out. Only my wife drives this car, and she pampers the car. It's going to cost me $1800 for this fix. I'll never buy another.

first of all, coming from a honda specialist all the following models should be warrantied. 00-01 accord 99-01 oddyssey 00-01 prelude. and also note its not honda fault its the manufacture who made the trans for honda. whatever dealer made you wait 2 weeks for a trans is what i like to say as "YO FAULT!" no dealer will make you wait that long for a trans job at most it takes 3 days. take any domestic car to a domestic dealer and it will take 2 weeks just to get your wiper blades changed.

I've had a 99 Honda civic for a couple years now. I got it used, but when I first got it first gear was always hard to put in. It was almost impossible to downshift without grinding. I even got a new clutch put in recently thinking that would fix but it seems like it got even worse. If someone is having similar problems, holer!

In May of 2000, my husband and I purchased a Honda accord V6, We had heard only good about Honda’s how safe they were, this feature sold us. From day one the car was a nightmare, in Oct of 2001 Honda changed our transmission, with no change in the car In Dec of 2001 we took it back and was told to keep a record on the car for a month, that paper work was taken to them on Jan 31 2002 signed by my husband. On Feb 3, 2002 my husband was killed in this car. He made this recall. We were working on them taking the car back. (Lemon law)

Own a 2001 Civic, trans failure at 89,000 miles...sounds like recall to me.

My daughter worked from age nine to buy a reliable car for herself at age 18. She bought a 2000 Accord with 100,000 miles, because I previously owned real Hondas with great success. Now, it looks like it needs a new transmission, AFTER having one replaced at 50,000+ miles AND 83,000+ miles. Four transmissions by 130K mles! Honda Corp. is working with handeling part of the expense...I hope!

My 2000 Honda Accord has now had 4 "new" transmission and the problem still isn't fixed!! I'm still having the same problem and as you all can guess I'm completely and utterly disgusted with the Hondas and I will NEVER EVER buy another one! My last trip to the dealer to get it repaired they actually had the gall to charge me for diagnosic work!!! Why can't they figured out what the problem is and fix it for real?

My saga is just starting, but I have an Accord LX 2.3L that was just in for 60K maint. The dealership informed me that I had a leaky seal and my transmission needed to be replaced. So much for the 3year or 36K mile warranty (I purchased my car in October 2004). I did not notice any loss of fluid or puddle under my car, but the secvice manager said that my under body was coated and that the right seal was worn out. I had is replaced, with a Honda recertified part and when I first drove it home on local roads everything seemed OK. When I dove it the next morning to work on the highway that is when I noticed excessive vibration when accelerating ... more >>

I read the comments. I have worked in Hondas for many years. The engine is bullet proof but yes the trany has problems. I agree that with the reputation Honda has and the price they charge for these vehicles they should provide better tranies and also do what Hunday is doing, 100k miles guarantee. Why can Honda do this?
I guess paople will have to look for quality somewhere else no?
Word of advice, if the dealer is charging too much, try a Honda specialist shop instead and ask them to get you a remanufactured trany by Jasper. They carry an exellent quarantee.

No problem at all since I bought 2002 Honda Accord EX V6 however the transmission felt little funny. The D light was flashing. The 4th gear did not work. Other gears worked fine. I send my car to the dealer. Technician could not find any problem. I took my car back. I drove in about 4000 miles. Again D light was flashing. I send it back, technician found and replaced the transmission and it costs us $3500 but the Honda paid for it, I paid nothing.
I found out that the transmission was made in America. I will refuse to buy any Honda/Acura vehicles with the transmission, which America made. I have had an Acura Integra; there was no transmiss ... more >>
