Complaint
Review by upnorth on 2003-10-15
ARCADIA, MICHIGAN -- As a consumer from your state, I felt it was my responsibility to bring to your attention the following incident.Case of harassment and fraud. I received a bill from ATT in the amount of $70.35 for some 7 minutes of long distance service.

Upon calling I was informed that I was lucky to have such a small bill as some like bills exceded thousands of dollars.
When I paid the bill I would be protected in the future.
I am not an ATT Customer
The billing was unauthorized
It was addressed to: H Vaughn
P O Box 288
I Live alone and did make any such call
I am receiving as many as four threatening calls per day
21 to be exact during the last five day period.

Please contact me if you need more details regarding this incident.

Just pay the bill already. It's only 70-bucks.

I had this same problem, but I figured out what the problem was. One night, I heard someone making a long distance call from my house in the other room. I looked into the other room and saw ET making a phone call to his home planet. I was like dang it, why you have to run up my phone bill, ET. So maybe that’s what happened to you.

Sorry to hear about your bill sir, but you have to realize that it is your responsibility to keep up w/ your phn, meaning: you need to make sure no one else has access w/o you wanting them to, to your phn. Even if you dont authorize someone else to use it, if they do, the charges are still legit. Companies cant watch out for your own personal belongings for you.

I, too, have been harassed on multiple occasions from people calling from the 216 750 3000 number for AT&T.
They phoned me SEVEN times yesterday and then called and spoke to my husband last night at 9:01pm!!! We apparently owed $29, but these people were rude, harassing, and completely unprofessional! You would think that we owed these people the $29 and not AT&T.
So, my husband told them he would pay them this week.
Today, they called 5 times and finally got me at about 6p. I told the woman that someone had spoken to my husband last night and that he was paying this week. I told her that I did not appreciate receiving seven calls yesterday and multiple calls today and she replied, verbatim, that they would continue to call until we paid the $29.
This is insanity at it's finest.
