MTV Complaint - On Screen Ads on MTV - On Screen Ads During Programs

On Screen Ads During Programs - Complaint
Review by FRUSTRATEDviewer on 2008-08-29
Remember when you could just watch a program on TV without being nagged DURING THE PROGRAM about an UPCOMING PROGRAM???!!! Seriously. Have we really fallen that far into being the "short attention span generation" that we can't just focus on one program at a time!??? MTV has gone to. far with their latest on screen ads. They take up a good 1/3 of the screen. They cover people's faces WHILE I'M TRYING TO WATCH A PROGRAM and just now, there was a show with subtitles that I could not read because of the on screen at during the program.

ENOUGH! Let me just enjoy one thing at a time!!! GET OFF MY TV, MTV!

I JUST SPENT 20 MINUTES ON THE MTV WEBSITE TRYING TO FIND A PLACE TO COMPLAIN RIGHT TO MTV. They don't have a "contact us" option. I guess they aren't interested in complaints.

Changing the channel is always an option.

Spending 20 minutes doing anything that has to do with MTV should be against the law.

remember when MTV used to play music?

I won't argue the merits or detractions of watching MTV, but I will say that I wholeheartedly agree about the advertising that invades the screen when I'm watching a TV program (and most channels seem to have adopted this annoying form of advertising). It's not enough that we're subjected to more ads and less show, but now we have to endure ads in the middle of the show, too?
And it's usually advertising the same thing we see during the commercial break anyway!

MTV is vile swill. If you're ever successful in finding an e-mail address or customer service number, I'd suggest thanking them for making you an ex-viewer.

i would say to change the channel. that is easy, one click. no one is forcing you to watch mtv.

LOL, I was thinking the exact same thing trainwreck. I think VH-1 used to play music once too.

I've noticed a lot of cable channels are doing this. Some even have animated pop ups for upcoming shows. It's annoying

FRUSTRATEDviewer, I agree with you 100%! Like lunaan, I have also noticed MOST channels are slapping their promos on top of the program you are trying to watch. VERY annoying! I don't watch that much but it still pisses me off.
