Ohio Attorney General Complaint - home depot piqua ohio

Complaint
Review by fishinohio43 on 2003-12-01
As a consumer from your state, I felt it was my responsibility to bring to your attention the following incident.

BACK IN FEB/03 I WENT TO HOME DEPOT AND BOUGHT A DRILL AND SAW CORDLESS KIT FOR 99.00 PLUS TAX WHICH CAME UP TO $105.00 AND SOME CHANGE.AFTER A FEW MOUNTHS I RETURNED THIS ITEM DO TO BEING DEFECTIVE.I TOOK IT BACK WITH A SALES SLIP AND PURCHESED ANOTHER ONE,BUT IT HAD A FLASHLIGHT INCLUDED SO I PAID THE DIFFRENCE,AGAIN WITH CASH MONEY.THE STORE GAVE ME A CREDIT OF 105.00 AND CHANGE,PLUS I PAID THE DIFFRENCE AGAIN IN CASH.I NEVER USEDTHIS ITEM,,STILL IN BOX AND RETURNED IT BACK TO THE STORE ALONG WITH SALES SLIP.I WAS GIVEN 21.00 DOLLARS IN CASH AND THE REST IN A STORE CREDIT CARD THING.I PAID CASH MONEY FOR THESE ITEMS AND EXEPECT CASH BACK.THIS STORE IS NOT STICKING TO THEIR RETURN POLICY,,I DONT WANT ANYTHING ELSE FROM THIS STORE EVER AGAIN. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE FOR I FILL THIS STORE IS RIPPING COUSTOMERS OFF BAD BY GIVING THEM A STORE CREDIT INSTEAD OF CASH WHEN CASH WAS PAID TO START WITH. I COULD HAVE USED MY MONEY BACK AND WENT TO ANOTHER STORE AND BOUGHT WHAT I WANTED TO AND NOT HAVEING TO BUY FROM HOME DEPOT.

As a resolution, I would like the following:

CLOSE ALL THESE STORES,,,LET ME RETURN MY CREDIT CARD THING THEY GAVE ME BACK TO PIQUA OHIO STORE,AND GET MY HARD EARNED MONEY THAT I GAVE THEM TO START WITH.

Please contact me if you need more details regarding this incident.

You want, as a resolution, for the Ohio State Attorney to close all the Home Depot stores just becase you got store credit instead fo cash? I live in Florida , but I can hear them laughing in Columbus.

When the store gave you a "credit" for $105.00, you should have insisted they VOID that transaction and return the item properly; refund your $105.00 in cash, then send you to a checkout counter where you could then purchase your new choice. Idiot.

You got store credit. You had planned on buying something else that was more expensive from the store, and did using the credit you got on the return. So what exactly is the complaint here?

What you attempted to do was 'rent' a tool. You used the tool for several months and then expected Home Depot to refund all your money. When they would not (per their posted return policy) you bought another tool, then attempted to get your money back on that one. Sorry, but their computer system is designed to catch attempts at fraud such as yours. If the tool was broken after months of use, your issue is with the manufacturer, NOT the seller.
