Calvin Klein, Inc. Complaint - Rabbit Fur - Women's Sweater

Women's Sweater - Complaint
Review by ferninphilly on 2008-11-16
CHRISTIANA, DELAWARE -- I found a beautiful Calvin Klein sweater today that I almost bought. I happened to check the label and discovered that it was made of 7% rabbit fur. There is no way I would ever purchase anything made with rabbit fur, or any other type of fur, but unless you look closely at the label it is impossible to tell.

I am writing this as a warning to other animal lovers to check the labels on Calvin Klein sweaters, and to urge the company to abolish the use of real fur.

Ah, you all knew I'd be here. Resident vegetarian and animal advocate...NO FUR. FUR BAD. Bad Calvin Bad! Boo Calvin.

The synthetics look and feel the same-why not use them?
Posted by Ponie on 2008-11-16:
Because I'd prefer the real thing--not the 'pretend.'

Are you sure it's rabbit fur? I looked at Calvin Klein's web pages and the only items with fur are the fur-lined wool military trapper caps. The fur is synthetic.

I don't do fur. Who wants to pay big bucks to walk around in dead animals?
Posted by Ponie on 2008-11-16:
Toss out your shoes Principissa.
Posted by MissMarple on 2008-11-16:
I eat dead animals.

MissMarple, I am happy to know you didn't eat live ones! LOL!
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2008-11-16:
Thanks for the warning...It's always important to read labels before you buy.

DB, for the right price, I might.

Sorry Sherdy, but I must eat meat. Otherwise I would not be able to go to In-N-Out Burgers. I tried the Veganism thing once but missed the meat, chicken, fish etc to much.

We do eat a lot less red meat than we used to now. More chicken and fish these days. Plus a couple of really nice steaks cost to dang much now.

About the only thing you'll be able to use eventually for a coat is rat fur...

I should rephrase it, I don't do dead rabbits, fox, mink.... They're cute little animals. Cows, not so much. Except babies, but I eat veal so not too upsetting. I won't wear things made from cute animals! Poor little bunnies.

Having been in the rodent extermination business OF, how many do you figure it will take to make a full length coat? Hurry with your answer, it will be really cold before long.
Posted by old fart on 2008-11-16:
Nohandle.... it will take 3543 mice to make a full length coat
and 876 rat pelts for the same size... it doesn't take so much time trapping them as it does sewing all those 'lil mice skins together..

OK...now, are you gonna tell me it's my imagination that Old F's comment is showing up THREE times one the "What's Going On" Page?

Thank you OF. I'll be calling the Pied Piper tomorrow and perhaps there will be enough rats to make a coat by Christmas. I look forward to a lovely, full length fashionable statement under the tree. Perhaps the elves are ready for sewing instructions.

You all are wrong and bad.;) You need spankies! I'm also talking to Santa about some coal in your stockings!

I don’t know how anyone can enjoy life with out meat. Its so darn delicious. Humans aren’t meant to be vegetarians neither are lions you feed a lion a carrot he will tear your arse up to shreds. You need iron you need protein you need calcium animals have that.
Posted by dianec1 on 2008-11-16:
Sherdy, some of them will probably enjoy that, lol.

Santa has Rabbit fur on his red suit and wears black leather boots and belt.
Posted by Nohandle on 2008-11-16:
Dianec and Sherdy, I received coal last year thank you. I'm looking forward to a rat coat this year. Now, where are the elves?
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2008-11-16:
I wonder if Princi's Hubby ever brings her coal. Or would that be considered stealing from his employer?
Posted by old fart on 2008-11-16:
The only problem with a genuine rat fur coat is being attacked by all the neighborhood cats....
Posted by sherdy on 2008-11-16:
Insert LMAO smiley here.

PS. Santa uses shedded reindeer fur on his collar. I wrote and asked him. He told me so.

The OP has no legitimate complaint here. The label clearly indicated the item contained 7% rabbit fur. I keep kosher. Unless I look 'carefully at the label', I could not be sure food I bought was consistent with my beliefs. I do not ask food companies or grocers to put up big signs warning me about non-kosher ingredients. If the OP is concerned about animal fibers in clothing, the info is on the label. If your belief is dear to you, poster, it is your obligation to protect it by informing yourself.
Posted by old fart on 2008-11-17:
Doc.. correct me if I'm wrong but isn't rabbit Non-kosher..?
Posted by Principissa on 2008-11-17:
DB hubby brings me coal all the time! His work clothes are always covered in it.

Actually he finds fossils underground and he brings those home for me and the kids. They're black rocks, but in the middle they have plant and fish skeletons. Really cool. It's like having history in your own home.
Posted by old fart on 2008-11-17:
You're right Princi.. when I was a kid, I'd look through our coal bin and find the inprint of ancient ferns and shellfish..it is pretty cool...
Posted by Principissa on 2008-11-17:
It's actually...gasp....educational too! Just don't tell that to my oldest, he'll lose interest. :)
