U—Save Is the Worst by FAR!

SAN JUAN -- The absolute worst rental car agency in the world hands down! Pick up at airport, time at office to pick up car was over 2 1/2 hours and I wound up not taking the car because it never came. The staff at U-Save in San Juan are the most unprofessional and arrogant employees of a company I have ever met. They had pleasure making me wait! I finally asked them to cancel my reservation and they told me to wait again, that's when I got into a heated exchange with I presume the manager and I was approached face to face with another one of their employees. I'm 64 years old and just starting my vacation with my wife and friends and this happens? I didn't need this aggravation.

If they ran their business like professionals and cared about their customers things would have been different. From not answering the phone 10 times when I arrived in San Juan to waiting for the shuttle bus to pick me up, then waiting for the car (which never came), to changing the price of the reservation, to putting a $500 hold on my credit card this business, to getting threatened by an employee - U-save should be put out of business immediately! Sorry I had to rate them a 1 star they deserve NONE! I never got so annoyed with any kind of business in my life! STAY FAR AWAY FROM THEM - I suggest Dollar rent a car in San Juan who I went to after leaving the U-save morons.

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA -- As I walked up to U-Save to pick up my rental Amanda ** was upset as she was speaking to Qamar regarding her vehicle. After about 20 minutes of listening to their altercation I was called up next. Once I walked up Qamar asked me “What is my name” after repeating my name twice he found my reservations and told me I had to pay a $400 deposit plus my $122 rental fee. Qamar asked me “what type of insurance would I like to purchase”. I informed him I have my own insurance and begin to provide him proof.

Once Qamar got the insurance in his hand he begin to look at my car insurance front and back and asked “Do you have full coverage insurance on your car?” I told him, “Yes I do." Qamar then states “well it says you have a 2004 car and I wanted to know if you have full coverage insurance”. I stated, “Just because my car is a 2004 doesn't mean I can't afford to have full coverage insurance.” Qamar stated “I'm not sure of the laws in this state so I need to confirm”. I then stated, “Well do you think I can't afford the rental as well since I'm already being judge.” Qamar stated “I don't know because I haven't slide your card yet”.

I then stated to Qamar, “I really thought Amanda was mistreating you but I see your attitude, sexist, and racism against woman is absorbed and not professional on any level.” After Qamar finished my paperwork he then handed me an insurance verification form and stated “you need to sign this form because I am going to verify if you have full coverage insurance”. I asked him for his name as I retrieved the company card. Grabbed a pen and begin to write his name on the back when he aggressively stated “give me the card. I'll write my name down for you”.

After getting the card back I then begin to walk away and he greeted the guy behind me with a smile and stated “hey bro. How's your day going?” I felt humiliated and hurt behind his actions. After speaking to Amanda while waiting for our cars we both went back into the Four Point hotel to speak me the hotel HR manager and was told to ask for Mary while given business and other information. I then went back to U-save counter and asked to speak with the manager Rod **.

While waiting for Rod Amanda told Qamar he was going to get into trouble and Qamar stated “Do you think I'll lose my job because of some negative comments made online” in front of other customers who were waiting in line. Once Rod was available to talk I begin to tell him what happen and he told me the company only ask that drivers have liability insurance and he is not sure why Qamar stated I needed full coverage insurance but he will speak with him.

Amanda joined in the conversation stating she had an expired insurance car and wasn't treated with the same treatment as me. Rod advised me to send an email to customerservice@usaverac.com and it would be handled. The professionalism from management should trickle down to their staff as well. This type of customer service is unacceptable and I should hear from someone soon regarding this matter.

SAN JUAN -- This place is a total rip off. They charged me $50.00 because they claimed the interior was "substantially dirtier then 1st rented" Here is a picture of the floorboard with a bit of sand. First he threatened to charge me for a tire that indicated low on air. I laughed until he said he would charge me for sand on the floorboards. Then when I showed my disdain, and offered to take it to a gas station to clean it, he laughed, walked away, turned around and gave the finger to my daughter!!! These people are Heathens!!!

Worst Experience Ever!!

LAX, LOS ANGELES, TEXAS -- Please save yourself the time and the headache of renting a car from here. Red flags popped up the moment I arrived but foolishly I ignored them and continued to rent anyways. This was a nightmare and overall ruined my trip. While there are 2-3 employees working shift, only 1 employee actually assists the customers, even when the line is literally going out the door. They tell you that you must have good proof of insurance but don't tell you that they don't insure the vehicle when you provide your insurance info.

The 2016 car I rented overheated on the freeway and stalled. The car never started back up and I was stranded with no help from them. The reps were irate, disrespectful, and actually hung up on me a few times. They offered no help or resolution for the issue I found to be their fault. I had to have the car towed back to the location and pay all expenses out of my pocket, costing over $500. Turns out the radiator blew on the vehicle. The manager promised and even wrote a signed letter stating I would be reimbursed for all expenses and refunded for the rental within 7 business days.

Here I am going on 3 weeks later and still no check. When I was dealing with the manager about the refund 2 additional customers came to swap out their vehicles that were having mechanical issues for another one. Their cars are not reliable, the employees are not respectful, and the manager is a liar. Don't waste your time here and go with another company. If I could give 0 stars I would.

On the upside, there is a gentleman that works there named Diego. He was pleasant, respectful, and helpful. He needs a promotion, raise or a better job with a better company who has better morales. It's unfortunate that a great employee has to get a bad representative because of the company he works for.

LAX, CALIFORNIA -- You start by waiting more than 40 minutes to reach the front desk where customer service is not considering you as a customer. While waiting in line I heard a lot of remarks from other customers along the lines of "you save money, but you lose time and patience." The employees seem to not care about their jobs so they take their sweet time on the computer and with the paperwork. There are all kinds of reasons to make you pay much more than you agreed upon your reservation on internet.

If you don't live in CA, and don't have another current out of state driver's license, you just need to show them your return flight info. They may require a higher deposit too, you can pay with your credit card. You'll get it fully refunded if there are no damages or extra charges at check out. The U-Save representative will try to get you to buy extra insurance (damage waiver) saying that your credit card will only cover collision damages and it may not be enough. This is a ripoff to make you pay insurance more than the rent/day. They refused my company insurance which was accepted 4 times before by FOX, PRICELESS, ALAMO and AVIS. They refused my personal auto comprehensive policy. If you refuse to take the insurance they generously offer you to drive you back to the airport...

U-SAVE recommends returning your car at least 3 hours before your flight so they that can call your credit card company on the spot if any claims have to be made. When you get your car be sure to take a video of it showing the condition of the car along with the hotel in the background or one of the U-SAVE employee before driving off. Keep in mind you may need to prove where the video was filmed. Also, take a picture of the damages marked on the sheet of paper. You do not get a copy after the walkthrough. Would I rent here again? No. I left with a bitter taste and felt the customer service is really bad. I'd rather pay a couple of dollars more per day for a faster and more efficient checkout experience.

They were dishonest, conniving and the cars were in bad repair

LOS ANGELOS, CALIFORNIA -- AVOID AVOID AVOID!! If I could give them 0 stars I would. They are dishonest, conniving and don't take care of their cars. I have rented many cars and have never had a problem. It was a prepaid rental. When arrived we were given a 20-30 minute spiel trying to get us to buy insurance and prepay for gas. He went on and on even though we repeatedly told him we did not want it. He told us that it would be hard to find a gas station. (There was one right across the street.) Then he asked for the card we paid for the reservation with and when I handed him my debit card he told me that he couldn't allow me to take the car. He wouldn't take the card or cash or my son's credit card or allow us to call our son so he could give us our credit card number as a deposit. There wasn't any mention in my confirmation letter that they don't accept debit cards or cash. We finally rented a car on my son's credit card and were charged $150 more than the original rental. To lessen the blow he said he would give us free insurance, which we didn't need. On top of that, we were told that there were no refunds and they were going to KEEP the money I paid for the car I didn't get. When we got home I tried to get a refund. Since we went through carrentals.com they wouldn't even speak to me about the situation. The people at carrentals.com told me they could get a partial refund but wouldn't tell me how much that was. I decided to take the partial refund after many calls and emails and not getting anywhere. I have no idea how much I will be getting. The car we rented wasn't full of gas and had faulty brakes. Once we discovered the brake problem, we waited in a parking lot for an hour so they could bring us a new car. The second car was not in good condition. It was beat up and it ran rough. If you do rent from them, bring a credit card, expect delays as they try to sell you insurance and gas and don't expect the car to be in good condition.

MIAMI, FLORIDA -- Horrible Service, and the Front Desk Guy super RUDE. I made my reservation thru Expedia, the price were "low" but when you try to pick up the car, they charge for a lot of things. Like extra insurance for 3rd person, extra $20/day, if you try to use your Insurance they said that it need to cover for ONE MILLION, wow.

The advertising said unlimited millage, well not they said that you only have 100 miles per day. They want to charge for Sunpass obligatory don't let you use yours, extra $20/day. They don't advertise the $500 to your credit card as a retention. The guy said to me if I don't like the charges that I can go to other place, wow. Actually trying to cancel thru Expedia and see if I can get what I paid for damage and collision. Save your time people, we need to share this type of experiences, we paid for a good service. Companies like this one don't need to be serving around.

Rip Off Company

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA -- I rented a car from them October 2017. At the counter I was more or less forced into paying for pre-paid gas and was told if I would return the car with same amount of gas (1/2 tank) this would be refunded. I was also forced into paying insurance, even though I told the desk person that I had insurance and also had CDW with my credit card at which time the guy told me that my insurance according to him would not cover that and that they would not accept the credit card CDW. So I was forced to pay an extra $10 per day for insurance.

When I returned the car with the exact amount of gas that was in there when I rented it I was now told that I would not get a refund. Hopefully whoever reads this will not rent from them as what they are doing is illegal and they have very slick salespeople who just want to scam you out of everything they can.

Rental Car From Hell, This Organization Is a Dishonest Orgnaization in Greece Where They Try to Extort Money From Their Clients

ATHENS, ILLINOIS -- We rented a car that was ready to expire, 135,000 KMs, with doors not working, air not working, trunk not working. It took them 5 days out of the 12 we had rent the car for them to replace the car. When we returned the car the operator tried to blackmail us to give her 135 Euro because supposedly we had damaged the car, which we had not. After we said that we will not pay and we are ready to legally defend ourselves, they thought (which probably is common practice by the owner of the company) that they could blackmail us to pay them, by waiting for us to checking our flight from Athens to Rome and then to press charges against me that I swore at the operator.

My family and I had to abort our flight lose 4,000 dollars in getting another set of tickets, pay an Attorney to defend us at court for another 900 dollars, stay in Greece another two days and be in court for 10 hours a day so to be proven innocent of the charges. These people are dishonest and extortionists, unless you are willing to be blackmailed DON'T USE THEM.

Do Not Get Your Car Rental From U-Save; They Are a Scam

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA -- Do not get your car rental from U-save. Go with a national brand with good reputation. I made a mistake by going to U-save because they offer good rental rate and it was one of the biggest mistake I made. They forced me to buy their very high-cost insurance ($29/day) although I have full insurance coverage. They will find all reasons to force the insurance on you. The guy at the counter tried the scare tactic and said a small scratch or dent will result in hundreds of dollars in repair and without the insurance, I will responsible for any small damage.

I talked to several friends who had the same experience. They all said U-save starts the sale pitch once they know you are from out of state and have no choice but to rent from them. Sure enough, the guy at the counter forced me to buy insurance after he photocopied my out of state driver license and knew I had no choice but to get a car from them. There are many choices when it comes to car rental at LAX. Please save yourself the trouble and only book with reputable companies.
