Suncoast Energys Complaint - Gas Price Rip Off - Price Of Their Gas

Price Of Their Gas - Complaint
Review by DENNY123 on 2009-03-17
ORLANDO, FLORIDA -- I stopped in to the Suncoast Energys gas station on 5928 Butler National Dr., Orlando, FL. 32822 Dealer # 5m12688345001 on 3-14-09 to get gas before I took my rental car back. I was really low on gas & didn't see the price of gas till after I had all ready 8.8 Gallons at a price of $3.999/Gallon. I stopped & went down to the road a ways & paid $1.879/Gallon.

These people should be take to court. I believe in making a profit, but this is just not right. If I lived in Orlando I would be out there picketing them till they went out of business.

No offense, but that was kind of stupid, not checking the price before purchasing....duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

A lot of gas stations near car rental agencies have spiked gas prices that are double that of regular retail. Since there is not a gas shortage they really are not guilty of price gouging. You are always better off filling up the tank several blocks away from the airport or freeway offramps.

I'm sure a car dealership would like you as a customer.

My fellow M3C members, I would have to side with the OP as he probably thought that the average gas price in the region is 1.80s/gal. and therefore he didnt think he had to look at the sign.

MRM, I travel the South Central US. I know what gas prices average in my territory. I STILL look at the prices BEFORE I pump, because they can vary from $0.02 to $0.75 in the same city.
I know you check before you buy something.
John, this seems to be really prevalent around the Orlando, FL airport.

Ouch! How's that for a smackdown?!?

I'm with MRM, in fact I've done the exact same thing before..I'm sure the OP knows he should have looked first, his complaint is the huge price difference and they shouldn't be allowed to have such a dramatic price difference. Unfortunately, they can and do get away with it though.

Yea, I look before I buy to look for the lowest price per gallon.

The problem is that this particular gas station has been gouging for over a year, maybe two, they do not post their prices anywhere except on the pumps themselves, and that the state regulators are doing nothing about it.

I use Gasbuddy.com to look for the lowest gas price in the area and to avoid driving around looking for gas. Gasbuddy.com is a useful tool and I have bookmarked the site. You will need Gasbuddy.com when the summer arrives as the gas price are soaring through the roof.
