Review by JimFlamer on 2004-04-13
KERNERSVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA -- I talked to you people about reinstarting my insurance policy and nobody cared.I was willing to pay the reinstart fees and everything.even my agent went to bat for me.he indicated that I hadnt had no accidents over the past 20 days and I would sign your agreement log.Still, nobody came to my rescue. I was devestated. I can never count on you people again.I had my agent write me with AIG. I hope your happy.

No accidents over the past 20 days, there is a record to be proud of.

quick comment:
sorry to hear that you got the shaft! I'm an agent with GEICO and I am in the service department and I get several policy reinstatement calls a day. Let me advise you here really quick:
1. Although your lapse wasn't over 30 days, it was still significant enough to cause them not to, "come to your rescue." Bottom line here is, although you had a great driving record you were still driving illegally. This is something that gmac had to take into consideration when you called back to reinstate the policy.
2. dealer: although your post was funny, if he's with AIG now...he's not pulling anyone's leg when he says he's a good driver....they're a tough company to get with. This brings me to my next point for the poster:
BEWARE!! make certain that AIG knows that you were in a 20 day lapse of coverage prior to the start of your policy with them. Don't just rely on your agent, I say this because the underwriters at AIG will have the final say-so as to whether or not the policy is kept at the rate offered or not. If the underwriters find out--eventhough your agent already knows that you have had this lapse (doesn't mean that he/she relayed this info to the underwriting dept)--you can kiss that nice rate that you got at AIG bye-bye. If all else fails, call GEICO!

Now i see what state you live in...
NC is a VERY tricky state to do insurance in! The laws are very strict and must be followed to the letter! Definitely check with AIG and see if they knew the info up front because if they didn't, then you may have a surprise in your first bill.....a higher rate!

I had them before & they DO stink! Their customer service doesn't have a clue as to state laws and they're only out to take your money. DOn't fall for it again!

Oooh yeah, never ever get insurance with this company. Their customer service is terrible and unprofessional. I will never have another policy with them.

The policy you had was in a state of "lapse", which indicates a 99% chance you didn't pay your bill on time. If you fail to pay your bills on time, do you really expect to receive the same servie, and still qualify for the same benefits, with or without paying what you owe? If your paycheck was a week late getting to you, wouldn't you expect some type of compensation in return? Why should an insurance company keep your policy if you fail to show you really care about your own policy. Insurance is not a charity.

I agree with Legend of Josh... it's not a charity.

Good thing you agree with Legend of Josh there, Legend of Josh. It would be a bit unhandy for both of you if you didn't. LOL.

GMAC insurance USED to be good a few years back, NOW you can't make any sense of the HUGE DISPARITY between St. Louis ettiquette and that if the Phillipines! If you no longer quality for a multi-vehicle policy, thus a SUBTRACTION in your assets (vehicles) and thus LOWER in your RISK CATEGORY? RIGHT? LESS VEHICLES = LESS RISK WHICH SHOULD = LOWER POLICY PRICE? HUH? Not, Not, Not....at GMAC.
These people SUCK and they have NO LOGICAL REASON FOR THEIR PRICING VARIATIONS! Screw GMAC!
