Vanderbilt Mortgage Complaint - They Have No Class

Complaint
Review by cherbear on 2009-06-11
Vanderbilt is so beyond outrageous. Today is 6/11/2009 my payment was due on 6/10/2009 I am not behind and they called me cause I am one day late.
this was my grandparents home they died in 2003and they continue to argue with me when they call to speak with one of them I am so tired I wish they would just go away.

Then they have no class cause they hunt you like a dog if you are a month behind they went as far in 2004 after my grandparents died did not know how I was going to catch up but I did but they went as far to find my ex-hushand and call him I don, t know how they if put it together we were not married when my grandparents bought the home and he nor I are even on the title so be careful with this company they will drag you down but if this was happening to one of them they would want someone to help them.

Punctuation is your friend. I know times are tough but late is late. If you're going to be late on your payment, it may help to call them first and let them know that you will be making your payment on the 11th instead of the 10th or whatever. Best of luck to you!

mscantbewrong "isn't wrong" on all points. There isn't much you can complain about if a lender calls you becuase you missed your due date. Usually they would wait till the late fee kicks in, but..well it's still their call as to how late is late before the friendly reminder call comes.

did you assume the loan? was it re-financed into your own name? if the original loan owner has passed, the loan should also be passed, paid off, or re-financed.

Do you realize you contradicted yourself in the first set of words (it can't be called a sentence since there's no period)? First you say you weren't behind but then you state you were one day late. It also sounds like there's a history of non-payments or late payments since you mentioned they spoke with you in 2004 about the same thing. If their records show consistent trouble with making payments, I'm not surprised that they called you when the payment was one day overdue.

Do you hold the mortgage on this house or are you paying your grandparent's mortgage? It sounds to me like the latter may be the situation from other things you state, like when you mention that they are calling to speak to one of your grandparents. Was this house given to you? Is your name on the loan or the mortgage? If not, I would check into this with an attorney because you could be making payment and end up with nothing in return. Mortgages are not typically assumable by another party.

Some information provided to me from someone in the banking industry: creditors are now calling immediately when a payment is past due for two reasons - 1)they try to be first in line to collect funds when available, and 2)lenders are in "panic" mode now, and doing everything possible to prevent any type of loss, which late payments can lead to.
