I called the sales person at
Dell and asked for the best deal with the Office Suite on the tower (with no monitor needed). At the time the deal was $299, but I couldn't delve out the payback over several months, so I got the $399 one instead being told the item was a much better quality product and that it had
MS Works on it which was supposed to have the Word, Access, Excel and Powerpoint on it.
When I received the product there was a dent in the tower and the Works program had a 10 year old Word program on it. I spent the better part of 1.5 hours and 7 transfers between
customer service, technical
service and another service department I can't remember trying to see if they would compensate me with just emailing me the office suite programs I was supposed to get in the Works program. The only thing they wanted to do was send me a new tower, which would mean another 5 - 8 hours of loading new programs into the new
computer and not budge one inch to give me a $30 (at their cost) program. It's sad to say, but after 10 years with this company I don't recommend working with them. I bought $200 in extended
warranty, but it seems to come with no service as I spent 10 minutes listening to a tech who wanted to sell me personalized service when I was just trying to attached the sound system to the new computer. Working with Dell is just a lot of time sucking frustration. And they ultimately don't care about saving themselves money either. As it is I have to live with a dented cabinet with no compensation to boot.
What's mentioned here I emailed to them. I'll let you know if they ultimately care.
