Rear-Ended By Safeco Driver!! Witnessed By Cops! One Month - No Resolution - Complaint
Review by SafecoScrewed on 2009-09-08
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA -- File complaints against SAFECO with your state's Department of Insurance, Financial Institutions and Professional Registration!!!! Google it and you'll link right to the department and can file an easy form online!

SAFECO is giving me the runaround as well! After being rear-ended and forced into another car...the accident was witnessed by two police officers and was clearly detailed in the police report, their client was issued a ticket, and even Safeco's own appraiser said it was obvious I was hit from behind and forced into the other vehicle, it has now been ONE MONTH and Safeco has YET to declare liability! They're still "undecided"!!!!!!

Now I'm broke...out of $4000 of savings I had one month ago and I'm now forced to pawn off all of the things most valuable to me, just to survive!

SAFECO has managed to destroy my life in a matter of days. And they couldn't care less!!!

A related story with a better outcome... We had our parked car hit by a Farmer's insured driver a few weeks ago. Fortunately the lady left her information. After filing a police report, we contacted their insurance company (Farmer's) and filed a claim. It was a Friday morning. By Monday they had an adjuster at our home evaluating the damage. Before he left he cut us check for an estimation of what repairs would cost so we could get it fixed right away. They also authorized a rental car for us during the repair time. The repairs ended up costing almost twice as much, and they actually went to the repair shop and cut them another check. We had the rental for 2 weeks.

We were pretty impressed with their level of service, especially since we were not their customer! Goes to show you that some insurance companies are a bit more caring than others.

Turn this over to your insurance company and let them fight this on your behalf. If need be, they will get your car fixed and then go sue Safeco if need be. Call your agent today! Good luck.

This is the opposing insurance company and you expect Them to "care." This is business. Their job is to protect their insured. Your expectations are unreasonable. This is why you should have your own insurance to protect you, e.g. collision and med pay.

Their insured is probably saying that you stopped suddenly or that you ran into the car in front of you, which resulted in him hitting you. Safecos job is to please their customer, not you. I have seen many people get mad at their insurance company because their insurance company paid a claim when the people did not feel they were at fault.

Sparticus: Thankfully you had a clear cut case of liability because your vehicle was parked. With moving vehicles it can be that the vehicle in front cut in on the back vehicle resulting in the collision or the front vehicle stopped quickly. Even if a ticket was issued, that does not mean that from a civil standpoint the insurance company may not dispute the liability.

What is their reason for delaying payment? Is it a liability issue or a damages issue? In other words, is your vehicle a total and you think it is worth more than they do? If it's a liability issue, they have to give you a reason for being undecided.

I'm not sure why you would want me to file a complaint against Safeco with my "state's Department of Insurance, Financial Institutions and Professional Registration!!!!" I don't think that will help your case at all, plus I have no dog in your fight.

My dogs told me it'd be illegal to file a complaint against safeco cos I'd be committing fraud.

so the OP's dogs have to do the fighting for him.

There must be a difference between issuing a check and sending one out. i was told a second check was issued Nov.23.(my first check arrived Nov.23, I cancelled it since it was issued Nov.07 {16 days later} [mind you i am being charged storage since the 9th at 45 dollars a day], Well anyway i call today and I was told it didn't even go out yet that due to the holidays it just went to accounting this afternoon(no guarantee that it will even ship out today. This is very unprofessional(mind you I have a Payment that's suppose to come out of my account for my monthly insurance payment, I bet you they wont be late taken it out........to bad its not there due to insufficient funds. I wish there was a negative rating to give .......
