I have received several calls to my new cell number in regards to this company, and each time I call them and ask for my new number to be removed. To the NCO Financial Systems personnel, I did not create this debt therefore my number should be removed from the calling list, and I should not have to repeatidly ask for this to be accomplished.

Not every number you get is an accurate one, to the lil missy who works at NCO Financial instead of writing nasty posts to people who are complaining that your company continues to call and harass people who have the unfortunate luck to get a number from someone who owes money, get back to work, remove in accurate numbers from your system then maybe your boring little collections desk job would be slightly easier!

    nco is bottom feeders.

    very very very helpful!!!

Send them a cease and desist letter, telling them the number they are calling is the wrong number and the number is not to be called again. Send the letter certified with a return receipt. Once they sign for the letter, you will have record of the date they got it, and if they call your number after they received your letter, THEN you can file a lawsuit for harassment. But, you have to take the necessary steps to get there, and having proof that you requested them not to call your number and having proof they got that request would be your first step. If you need a copy of the cease and desist letter, you can find the link on my blog.

I wonder if that's who's been calling me. Every few months someone calls up looking for Phil.

hell... I'd kinda like to know who phil is too.

    To the OP:
I'd suggest - yeah do what DB said with the letter. Also perhaps a police report. if anything that'll get their attention at least

This post should be listed under 'complaint' not 'informative'.

    madconsumer (09/08/2009)
why send them a letter?? THEY have the wrong number.

    PepperElf (09/08/2009)
cos then you can use it against them
cos you can show it as proof to a court or to the police that they've been notified and they acknowledged the phone no longer belongs to the person they're looking for.

and if i'm not mistaken it IS illegal to continue harassment in such a case

    DebtorBasher (09/08/2009)
Exactly Pepper...I THOUGHT my comment explained the reason for writting the letter, but I should have known it would go directly over some people's head...as I said, that is what you need to help file a lawsuit for harassment.

if nco had any ethics, they would stop calling once they discovered they had the wrong number. there are far to many ways to determine who owns a telephone number.

since it is a new number, i bet the old owner stood up creditors big time.

to the poster. here is a link with valuable information.

it has trusted info you can use.

lvbej ... don't let people confuse you with links...the link provided above has nothing to do with your issue. It is for debt validation...and they are not trying to collect from you, they simply have the wrong number. If you ask for a debt violation, as you were wrongfully directed to do above, it would show that you are questioning the debt...which you are not, because you know they have the wrong number. You don't want to travel roads that are going to take you in all different directions and complicate the issue.

If you want the calls to stop, do as I suggested, send them a letter by certified mail with return reciept and request a cea... more >>

here is a link to the cease desist letter:
    http://www.utsystem.edu/OGC/INTELLECTUALPROPERTY/contract/cease.htm

i know someone who sent them c&d leter. all it did was allow nco to call them each day since then, despite. like i said, if nco had any ethics, they would abide by the law. a fast net search will show they do not play failrly.

    tnchuck100 (09/08/2009)
mad, the reason the someone you knew continued to get calls is they did not follow through. The C&D letter is only the first step.

    DebtorBasher (09/08/2009)
lvbej...I have to apologize for the confusion you may be getting from the other poster...again...ignor the link provided above, since you are not concerned about copyright infringement *Rolling my eyes*.

The link on my blog is the exact cease and desist letter that YOU need for YOUR issue.

    *Walking away in disbelief*

    madconsumer (09/08/2009)
then proved a link to the c&d letter. otherwise the poster wont know what to write. the last link is not copy righted.

    DebtorBasher (09/08/2009)
Poster...again..the link is ON MY BLOG!!!
Just click my name and it will take you there.

QueenBee, some people just got thick heads!

    DebtorBasher (09/08/2009)
LOL BA Mr. Mike! I don't know how to 'proved a link' anyway.

I mean...the first link she provided was from the same site as ON MY BLOG...but it was for validation of a debt letter...yeah, real helpful there! Same website, yet she doesn't know where or how to find the link, when she just posted it? Same site, wrong page, wrong issue...wrong, wrong, wrong....Geesh!

    tnchuck100 (09/08/2009)
"otherwise the poster wont know what to write."
mad, if you were paying attention you would have seen DB had already indicated where to get the letter. *rolling eyes*

    madconsumer (09/08/2009)
    yawn ......

    DebtorBasher (09/08/2009)
Oh well...my work here is done....Hopefully the poster will be able to weed through all the worthless attempts of advice, and will be able to get their issue settled.

    DebtorBasher (09/08/2009)
That second link she 'proved' was a real doozie!
