Claim Jumpers Compliment - Thank you, Claim Jumpers

Compliment
Review by Crown Jules on 2009-10-02
TUALATIN, OREGON -- On Thursday, Oct. 1st, I was part of a group of about 10-11 people who met up at the Claim Jumpers for food, drinks and general socializing. We got there around 2:30 with the intention of ordering off of the Happy Hour menu.

Due to the size of our party the staff put together several tables in the main dining area so we could all sit together. Unfortunately, that meant we couldn't get any of the Happy Hour specials since they were available in the bar area only. The tables in the bar area were unable to be re-configured so moving to the bar would have meant splitting us up into smaller groups which would have cut into the socializing.

After asking our server if there was any way to get the Happy Hour prices due to our large party, she sent over the manager who agreed to make the exception. We wound up spending almost three hours there having appetizers, drinks and desserts and had a wonderful time. The food was really tasty and the staff was very friendly.

Good review. My husband and I have not been to a Claim Jumper in a long time. Will have to give it a go.

claim jumpers has huge portions, that’s what I like about them. You leave with a full tummy and a doggy bag. The food priced reasonably.

I haven't been to Claim Jumpers in so long. Do they still serve the enormous desserts?

Yes, eloise, they do! Do you remember the chocolate cake? They still have that. The first Claim Jumper I ever went to (early 80's) was in Huntington Beach, CA. There was always a long line to get into that place. Now, I've noticed they have even cropped up here in the NW.

The really tall one with lots of frosting, KIA? In college I used to wait tables at Mimi's in city of industry and there was a claim jumpers right next door. (This was back when both chains only had CA locations)

We ate at the Claim Jumper in Phoenix once, and I didn't get the huge booths. At least not until they brought the food. We ended up getting four meals out of what we were served. And doggone delicious, too.

The desserts are indeed huge. I ordered the six-layer chocolate motherlode cake, shared it with two other people and still wound up taking two-thirds of it home with me. My main dish was the ham and spinach quiche and I swear my slice was nearly two inches tall.

There are so many great places to eat in California. I wish they would move east. FAST!!!
