NCO Financial Systems Complaint

So annoying!

I am in the process of trying to get a house and the loan/mortgage guy needs proof (a letter) I've been paying NCO. I called NCO and was told (very rudely) that unless I paid in full right now I could get no such letter. They claimed their legal dept. won't allow them to and he (the person on the phone) said he wasn't allowed to write anything about past payments I've made. I am simply going to stop all payments at this point since it has already affected my credit. I am so mad I could scream!!

nco is bottom feeders. they will not be so helpful.

see if the mortgage company will accept your payment proof. such as cancelled checks (which i hope you are not using to pay them with), money order receipts. if nco is doing their part, they should be reporting your payments to the credit agencies.

    MaggieMcT (10/08/2009)
Can you show him your cancelled checks? Or bank statements, if you've been paying electronically?

    DebtorBasher (10/08/2009)
NCO is not obligated in anyway to honor a request like this. Once the debt is paid in full, you can ask for a PIF letter. I don't know what your situation is regarding the debt or what kind of payment history you have with NCO...but I DO know that there a many debtors who will hang up on us, refuse to pay us, cuss and swear and threaten us when we try to collect on their debt...but as soon as the debtor wants to buy a house, they want the collectors to drop everything and cater to them, fax papers for them, send letters for them...as if WE owe anything to them after they were being impossible to work with before. Again, I'm not saying YOU, be... more >>

JustTheFax...If you READ my comment, I SAID, I don't know the poster's situation...and my comment was made in general and not towards the poster. And IF, as you said, "...some people are obviously trying to take care of their debts..." yeah, then why do they hang up when WE try to contact them about TAKING CARE of their debts? I SAID, we look at their payment history with us...if they gave us a hard time about it...don't expect us to drop everything to cater to them when they snap their fingers and want everything done YESTERDAY, 'cause no matter what agency they are dealing with, it's not going to happen. Those who didn't show any signs in t... more >>

Sometimes people need to take are of certain debts on their own schedule, not yours.

    DebtorBasher (10/08/2009)
And this is the results when they do. Instead of just hanging up on us...they need to let us know what's going on with them financially...but then of course we get the 'it's none of your business' remark...but we have programs to offer to help people, but we can't help them if they just hang up, cuss, swear and won't let us explain anything.

NCO is most certainly a company of bottom feeders, just like all debt collection company. If the OP is up to date with her payment schedule with NCO, then why can't she get a letter stating that? Would that kill NCO? I don't care if they 'don't have to', it's the right thing to do. NCO doesn't just want money they want the pound of flesh to go with it.

    DebtorBasher (10/08/2009)
Well...it's up to the individual sites whether they do or don't, it's not a law. And as for the site I worked for, we looked at the documents on the account and if they've been a trouble debtor from the get go...then we owed them nothing. Do we care if they buy a house or not, no. If they were willing to work with us even if they weren't able to make payments, but at least explained their situation, then yes, we would work something out for them...but remember, no one is going to bend over backwards to go above and beyond what they are required to do, to help someone who, as I said, hangs up on us, cusses and yells. They didn't care about the... more >>

The law firm I work for will not allow a "we got this (or these) payments, PIF" , etc letters to go out until 15 days after we receive the payment.

We have had folks call in later and say we cashed a "stolen" money order, or the check bounces, etc. The 15 day policy prevents some of that nonsense.

Yes, I will fax it to you or any third party you authorize, HOWEVER, it will still take 1-3 business days from the request date. (on top of the 15 days) NOTHING goes out of that building w/out a lawyer looking at it, even a simple form letter.

    DebtorBasher (10/08/2009)
Thanks Raven...that's what I'm saying, if they paid by check, they still have to wait until the check clears. We are not obligated to send those letters out to them at the snap of their fingers.

Additionally, if these debtors kept better records they could establish they had made payments timely, checks, bank account records, money order receipts, etc. We get calls from customers who want copies of records we have previously sent them, but which they have misplaced. "Can you fax that to me today?" When we explain those records are in storage and will take several days to obtain, they are upset at us.

    raven2002 (10/08/2009)
Exactly, DB. Our firm is Special Counsel in a few states and a regular third part retained by the govt in other states. If you take forever to pay your back taxes, over paid workers comp, EZPass violations, etc, or make us hunt you down just to get you on the phone, do NOT expect us to jump hoops once you finally do the right thing.

Or once we sue, seize assets, or garnish your wages. Cracks me up when folks demand letters, etc after we had to drag their happy little behinds to court to FORCE them to pay.

    madconsumer (10/08/2009)
"...the loan/mortgage guy needs proof (a letter) I've been paying NCO..."

doesn't sound like it was over 1 payment. sounds like they were looking for history, and the fact the debt WAS being paid.

    DebtorBasher (10/08/2009)
Exactly Raven...tell them to use their court records as proof of payment...LOL!
