Pampered Chef rips off wife! - Web services and customer support

My wife wanted to earn a little extra money, so she got talked into purchasing $300 worth of Pampered Chef product in order to become a consultant. She then got talked into signing up for their personal websites. She tried selling the product and using the website for a few months, but couldn't make enough contacts, so she chauked it up as a loss and at least she got a lot of Pampered Chef products to walk away with.

A few months later, they auto recharged her bank account for renewing the website (which she did not authorize and which she hadn't used in months). She called them and they told her that they were authorized to recharge her bank account because that was their standard business practice. She told them that they had agreed when she first set it up that they wouldn't do that and wanted it cancelled and refunded. They told her that she didn't have it in writing and that they would cancel the website but only give her back a few dollars (nowhere close to what they charged her). We filed a unauthorized charge claim with her bank and have been now fighting this for nearly 3 months. Pampered Chef is a rip off and couldn't treat people fairly if they tried!

You'll probably lose because when she first signed up there was surely a clause that stated that there was an automatic renewal per the contract that she agreed to. Almost all business are doing this now. Don't hold your breath on this.

Why didn't your wife sever her ties with Pampered Chef in writing? How do you expect them to know she didn't want to renew her website, telepathy? All she had to do is put it in writing, she didn't!

This is nothing more than a pyramid sales scheme similar to Amway and a bunch of other companies...
take your losses as a lesson and run like heck from anything else that smells like this...

OF, I am a Partylite consultant and I love my money and products. I also have a website and if I want to stop using it, I cancel in writing and it stops coming out of my bank account.

It isn't a pyramid scheme. Millions of women make their living this way and we actually have some good stuff.

I LOVE pampered Chef. I wish I could afford to buy more. I know how hard it was to get my PL business going, but youi have to work it like a JOB.

Pampered Chef stuff is of good quality, but $15 for a spatula, or $50 for a small piece of cookware? I'm not surprised the wife didn't do well in these economic times. I quit with all of that stuff: overpriced candles, cookware, baskets...I'm with Ejack on this one. As is, the OP's wife should have been able to opt out right on the website, but it's probably not easy to do. If you notice, no one ever makes it easy for you to quit anything online.

Sherdy, I have had no problem closing and reopening my PL website once when I had a financial issue and was pinching every penny I had. All I have to do is notify them in writing to stop the service, and reopen online when I was ready to go back to it. I have it again, and it works like clockwork.

Yes, it is higher priced, but PC will warranty their stoneware for life. The spatulas maybe not, but the rest is worth the price.

With Tupperware you don't have much problems getting out-I just stopped selling and went inactive. Their website has the options for a plain website with contact info or one where the customer can purchase items. Pampered Chef was always a little expensive for my taste.

Just to let you know, the cost of the start up kit is only $155.00 and they will not charge you anything else to get started in Pampered Chef, everything else you buy is completely optional and defintly not required. The company also sends several reminders before they debit your account about the website that if you want to cancel it you need to do it before the date of debit. As a director, I just thought I would clear those 2 things up.
