Omigod, a compliment!
Yes, you read it right... try not to faint.
So, I've had a
bank account with them since 2004. Free
checking account.
In all that time, I've never been charged a monthly service fee until now.
I switched my direct
deposit over to my other bank account since I used it more and was just using this one as something to set money aside in.
I check my account online, as I always do, and noticed a monthly service fee.
This, of course, upset me.
I went into a branch on my way home from work. I calmly and nicely explained to the financial specialist, or whatever BoA calls them, my problem and he reversed the charge. He also looked at what kind of account I had and explained what the charge was for, but since I'd never been charged, he reversed the fee. He explained what I needed to do to keep from getting this charge. He explained that if I just had a direct deposit of 1 cent going in, the fee wouldn't be charged. He said, "I'll do everything I can to make sure this account is still 'free' for you." A few keystrokes and he changed a few things therefore giving me more time to make sure a direct deposit goes through since sometimes, it could take up a month before one goes through.
He was very friendly and understanding. More so because I wasn't all up in arms and in his face about it.
