I am so disgusted with DirecTv. I have had their service for about 15 years now and the end is in sight. A couple months ago, we bought a flat screen TV..everything worked awesome. I had DirecTV servcemen come out and connect it for me. That was my 1st mistake. The first tech that came out ONLY wanted to be paid CASH.

No free install for moving..pay the man CASH. However, my install was supposed to be free. I ran him off. I waited home another whole day and the 2nd guy came out. He installed...2 days later..NO TV. I called again... day 3...3 weeks, 1 day a week, I was to WAIT. DirecTV was receiving their money too. 3rd day, I waited, the guy came and fixed it. A couple days later..NO SERVIVE. Here comes man 4. He troubleshot the HOLE in the antenna. Said it was an OLD antenna. WOW! 2 months is old?? No, I think I received a discarded antenna at install..at the mnimum, FAULTY.

Okay, new problem, the HD receiver that I PAID FOR was fried, as was my brand new television..from their antenna!!!!!

How is this pay your bill for BAD equipment, get your TV fried and DIRECTV could care less???
Don't really know what to do yet??? I do know my service has been more than DESTRUCTIVE...to the point of making me sick!

Every time I call, I get a clerk answering the phonme with NO POWER to remedy anything. Will I have to take this to another level??? Hope not, but a new TV, and several hundred dollars later?? what to do???

Do you have a written statement from a certified technician to the effect that the DirecTV equipment damaged your set? If not, that's where you need to begin.

This is a typical DTV experience with contracted third-party technicians. DTV and the installers point the finger at each other and leave the customer helpless. I canceled DTV after 11 years due to an install issue and went to cable. It has been great and I can even watch TV when it rains or snows.
I save a great deal on a bundled package with telephone and broadband.

Hmm. Normally when a technician asks you to pay cash it is for a custom install, but that is something that should be made clear for you as the customer as to why. And usually it's for if you're asking the technician to do custom work other then a standard install. So if that is not the case, kudos to you for standing your ground!
However, it's not actually possible for the directv receiver to fry your tv because no matter what kind of video and audio cables you are using from the receiver to the tv they do not carry any sort of electric charge. Sounds like there is something else that went on there.
