Nightmare Honeymoon - Airfare hotel reservations

I booked our honeymoon to Puerto Rico with Travelocity. We where flying out of Chicago. We had electronic ticketing.

Everything was fine till the morning we where supposed to leave. When I went to do the online checkin, it wouldn't let me enter my wifes name. They had put both of the airline tickets in my name.

I tried to resolve this to no avail. It appears its federal law that they can't change the name on the ticket.

To make a long story short, we had to cancel out honeymoon, our beach wedding, all the excursion reservations and the limo. It was a little over 2k for everything, we got it all back except for 500 dollars.

My wife was in tears explaining to her Mom what had happened, only to find out that the exact same thing had happened to them when they scheduled their vaction, only they caught it in time because they called the airline to check the reservation.

So if you are booking with this company, please check and double check everything. Ask for the tickets to be sent to you.

I use travelocity to check for flights - then I book directly with the airlines. It is almost always better because you deal directly with the airlines if there is a problem, not through a third party.

I hope this did not spoil your time with your new wife, even though it did not work out as planned. That's the really important thing.

    Were the tickets booked online?

When you book a flight online with Travelocity, it asks for the names of each passenger. I am wondering how both tickets came up in only the OPs name.

If you book two tickets for yourself directly with the airline and you don't notice till the day of the flight then you will be out of luck as well.

Perhaps the chances of the problem arising increased because of the wife changing to her married name. I would think that at times this has also caused problems where tickets and identifications do not match.

Yes tickets where booked online. Yes it asks for both names. Yes i put in my wifes new last name in. When i googled this situation i discovered that i was not the only one this happened too. There is a glitch in the system. The information displays correctly when viewed online, however when printed out the information is different. It showed both names when viewed online, showed my name twice when i printed it out after the fact. Although disappointed, we managed to turn it into a fun weekend. She rolls with the punches better then anyone ive ever met. Just reinforced my decision to marry her.
