I purchased a new cellphone worth $249 from a reputable telecommunications company. I also paid for insurance for my new cellphone in case it was lost, stolen or damaged. The insurance company is called "Mobile Device Protection Association, LLC or MDPA for short". When my phone was stolen, I contacted MDPA and they refused to replace the phone because it was stolen from an "unsecured" location, in this case a public ladies bathroom inside of a shopping mall.

When I looked at their policies for replacing lost/stolen items, this is what I found concerning what is "EXCLUDED" for replacing a lost/stolen/damaged item:
What is excluded? The loss, real or perceived of data, time, financial opportunity, or any other consequence arising from the loss of the use of the wireless device, normal wear and tear, inventory shortage, dishonest or malicious acts, cosmetic damage (ex. marring, scratching), negligent loss, liquid damage, pervasive corrosion, loss or unexplained disappearance or voluntary surrender to a third party, loss in a body of water, theft from an unattended premises or vehicle not reasonably secured, in transit either through postal or courier services, or incidences occurring outside the Continental US or Canada are not included with this service.
--------------------------------------
In other words, they will not replace your mobile device under any circumstances. They are using reputable businesses to sell their insurance, making millions of dollars, but not provide any service to consumers what soever. If anyone else has had this problem with MDPA, please contact the Better Business Bureau and the cellphone provider who uses MDPA to provide insurance for cellphones.
Thank you

I'm assuming you didn't read this policy before you purchased the coverage. It isn't easy getting insurance companies to pay for anything these days. It sounds like the only way they would replace your phone would be if it were stolen from your locked car or from a locked safe. You of course would need to provide a police report.

In other words, they have no intention of replacing it..period !!

That is true. My daughter's phone was stolen from her locked car when the window was smashed. They replaced it.

Leaving it in a bathroom is not considered theft to them. It is considered irresponsibility. Not trying to be rude, but that is the case. Read the policy.
