Okay let's do it. Let's talk about another 'win' for the customer. Last night my wife and step daughter wanted to go to Buffalo Wild Wings since they've never been there. I'm no fan of B-dubs but I love my wife and step daughter so what am I gonna do? Tell'em no?

We get seated, place our drink order then upon getting our drinks order our wings It's Tuesday, wing night, wings are 40 cents.

Gotta like that. The OKC Thunder are on the big screens giving the Lakers all they can handle and them some. Excellent.

About five tall beers later the waitress comes by and asked if we're ready to place a food order. I tell her we already did about forty minutes ago. She shuffles through her pad and says oh yeah. The kitchen's really backed up although I could tell she was lying and that she had never turned in our order. So I say, Come on now be honest you never turned our order in did you? She says, yeah I did. I said no you didn't. Hey, people make mistakes. It happens. But don't lie to me. Through a sheepish smile she finally admitted she didn't turn in our order.

She brings the wings out. We had to send two orders back since they had the wrong sauce. Anyway four more tall ones later the bill arrives.

I told the waitress there will be no tip because of the service. She kind of frowned but seemed to understand. I then said, however I'll give you as a tip half of any amount you can get discounted off my check due to the little order snafu. She says, okay.

The manager comes over profusely apologizing for the service. Tells me that tonight's visit is on the house. Good man. The check came to about 80 bucks. I'm a man of my word so I left two 20's on the table for the waitress and off I went.

This what I call a 'win-win'. I got my food and drink for half off and the waitress got a fat tip. Best part of it all is that I didn't have to vent my complaint to the manager. The waitress did it for me.

Chalk another one up for the customer!

9 Tall ones?! It sounded like a fun night, I hope your wife drove home.

    skelly39 (11/04/2009)
That may be what you said, but from the sounds of it, she heard "shzzalalazzzz" and ended up with $40. Man, I have a hangover just reading this.

    Stew (11/04/2009)
It's Oklahoma beer which does not exceed 3.2% alcohol by law. It was also over a period of three hours. That's like 1.5 beers an hour in Texas. I was more bloated than buzzed.

    wallyworld (11/04/2009)
Geez Stewart you got all lickerd up and gave the waitress a hard time.

    skelly39 (11/04/2009)
Oh. Well, then what good is it?

    Stew (11/04/2009)
Wally, Did you not read my review? All I did was give the waitress a shot at redemption. How's that giving her a hard time?

skelly39 - Eh, when in Rome.

    wallyworld (11/04/2009)
I read it, seemed like you were harassing her more then anything to get your way.

Your not getting a tip if I dont get a discount.

    Stew (11/04/2009)
Wally, That's just your own stinking thinking negative interpretation. I didn't ask to get my way. I didn't ask for anything. I merely created a situation where getting my way would be financially advantageous to the waitress. I let the nature of the beast do the rest.

    DebtorBasher (11/04/2009)
I HOPE you're not trying to tell me they charge 40 cents PER arm pit! They have 10 cent wing nights here, but I wouldn't even eat them for free! YUCK!

    bargod (11/04/2009)
3.2%! that's not beer that's pop! Wow they comp the whole bill just for that little snafu. That was more than grasious of them and you stuck to your word. Good man Stu..Stew..Stuart...Stewart???

    Stew (11/04/2009)
Basher, Indeed they did. Even at that it's no bargain. B-dubs has the smallest wings in the business. Makes ya wonder if they're serving parakeet wings.

    DebtorBasher (11/04/2009)
You're crazy for even ordering them in the first place and willing to pay for them.

    Stew (11/04/2009)
I said in the first paragraph that I didn't want to go. I had no choice in the matter. The thirteen year old and I live by a simple axiom. If mamma ain't happy then nobody's gonna be happy. I like being happy. I do all I can to be happy even if that means eating chicken armpits. That's just the kind of giving thoughtful guy I am.

    DebtorBasher (11/04/2009)
You didn't HAVE to order the pits! Don't they sell pizza or something? Why not go into the kitchen and introduce them to the Basher Burger????

    JR in Orlando (11/04/2009)
Sounds like you went there to drink, more than eat. I can understand if they did not bring your drinks, but the wings being late does not sound like a particularly bad thing. Note it was not you who initiated the conversation about where are the wings, but the waitress' request to take an order that raised the issue.

The waitress should have gotten a tip regardless of what occurred with the wings. You put that waitress in a spot where if she did what was best for the company, she lost money, and vice versa. Would you offer a kickback at the register to a cashier if she discounted your food?

    old fart (11/04/2009)
    3.2 beer is Pi$$water...
If you're gonna drink, get some guts up!

    wallyworld (11/04/2009)
I'll stick to my budlight lime.

    justthefaxx (11/04/2009)
Has anyone tried the new Budlight Wheat? It's pretty good.

    Stew (11/04/2009)
JR, The service was far worse than I described in my review. Over half the drinks for our table I got from the bar myself having the bartender put the drinks onto our table tab and of course each trip to the bar I tipped the bartender. It wasn't the bad service that led me to say no tip it was the fact the waitress tried to BS me about not turning in the order. If she had been honest with a simple V8 head slap dang I forgot to turn your order in then all would have been forgiven. Like Judge Judy says, Don't pee on my leg and tell me its raining because that doesn't fly with me.

As far as her putting her own interests ahead of the companies... more >>

    jktshff1 (11/04/2009)
Great way to handle a "situation". vh

    JR in Orlando (11/04/2009)
If they don't keep the beer coming, then they don't deserve much of a tip. Man does not live by bread alone.

    caa (11/05/2009)
3.2? Remind me never to visit Oklahoma.

    redmx3racer (11/05/2009)
Yes caa-don't go to Utah either. Similar laws and "near beer" only!

    PepperElf (11/05/2009)
personally i don't believe in stiffing someone just cos the service was crap

but i know there are others who feel it's appropriate and right.

for me... 15% for blah. and 18+ for good service

also good tips if the waitress is pregnant. (why the bias? cos hey, the baby has a right to be healthy before it pops out)

    Stew (11/05/2009)
This waitress didn't get stiffed. She got a 50% tip.

    PepperElf (11/05/2009)
yes but you were planning on it, as you said above.

which is something i personally disagree with doing

    wallyworld (11/05/2009)
That is correct pepper, if stewart didn't get his discount then no tip would of been left for the poor waitress.

    Stew (11/05/2009)
I won't enable poor service by my monetary endorsement unless there's something in it for me.

    Ytropious (11/05/2009)
Agreed Pepper, what if she asked the manager about it and the manager said no dice. She still tried, would you have been stiffing her then?

    PepperElf (11/05/2009)
the only place i don't tip is when i'm in japan

in japan they pay the workers full wages so they don't have to rely on tips to reach minimum wage.

and yes some restaraunts are very pissy in the US when they have to pay the staff extra just to bring them up to minimum wage.

sure some will say "well if the service was better!!!" but this happens regardless of the lack of tip being punishment for "bad service" or just because the customer was cheap.

    Stew (11/05/2009)
The deal was the waitress would get 50% of any discount. I would hold to that agreement regardless of the amount of the discount. I'm very honorable that way.

    zzrokk (11/05/2009)
A nice review Stewart but why is it that everywhere you go you seem to have some sort of problem? Buzzard's luck or do you just reek of bad karma? MG!
The manager handled that properly I think. I wouldn't have tipped the waitress THAT much but then, I don't blow 80 bucks at a wing joint then tip the waitress that fibbed to me either like you, big spender! (VH)

    Ytropious (11/05/2009)
But Stew what if she wasn't able to get you a discount? She still tried.

    zzrokk (11/05/2009)
I just contacted the manager at this place.
It seems that Stewart, had gotten a little tipsy on pre dinner drinks and started flirting with the server which in her words "repulsed her"
to no end which explains why she was in no hurry to go back to his table to be gawked at some more(good for her).
Stewart started making a big scene about the service so the manager decided to give him the discount to get him out of there, hence him tipping the server after all that due to GUILT and SHAME. Sad.

    DebtorBasher (11/05/2009)
Stew is a man of his word and for that I hold high respect for him. Now, ZZ on the other hand....I'm still working with him. I believe there is still a little hope there and since I do enjoy a good challenge, I'm up for it.

    zzrokk (11/05/2009)
I tend to go with what the manager said. The poor girl was nearly in tears!
Hitting on the server in front of his wife and stepdaughter. Talk about low!

    Stew (11/05/2009)
LMAO, ZZ, you're confusing me with Stew.Old.

Basher, I've always said the only thing lacking in Zz's life was a good woman, a good STRONG woman.

    zzrokk (11/05/2009)
Not so sure about the "strong" (woman) part.
    Sober up yet, stud?
How were the wings or do you even remember?

    DebtorBasher (11/05/2009)
So true Stewie...and the only thing lacking in my life is a weak man. Yup...ZZ and I were made for each other.

    zzrokk (11/05/2009)
    Shut it!!!!!
Stop hijacking this thread and lets try to help poor Stewart here in his time of need!!

    Stew (11/05/2009)
Actually Zz I only had one or two wings. They were okay. I wasn't really that hungry but ya know ya gotta do the family thing every now and then. Anyway like I've told you before solid food makes me sick.

    zzrokk (11/05/2009)
    Soup?

    zzrokk (11/05/2009)
How do you run up an 80 dollar bill at a wing joint unless you are getting plastered on drinks in the process?!

    PepperElf (11/05/2009)
wait i thought i posted about the anchor bar in here

    was it deleted?

    zzrokk (11/05/2009)
    I never saw it.

    Stew (11/05/2009)
Never saw what ZZ? 80 bucks at one time?

    PepperElf (11/05/2009)
ah might have posted it while i was screwing around with this computer. the big hdd was still giving me issues. had to go back to the original one.

anyway 80 is a bit much for wings in my opinion

tho with drinks i guess that can run your bill up.

i personally prefer the Anchor bar however since they're reputed to be the source of the original buffalo wing. maybe the next time im in buffalo i'll get some.

(of the 4 tales of the origin the AB was involved in 3 versions)

    zzrokk (11/05/2009)
*spews my Taco Supreme onto my monitor*

    PepperElf (11/05/2009)
he meant my post about the anchor bar that i thought was deleted, you silly smurf!

*whaps stew on the head with a chicken wing*
    =)

    zzrokk (11/05/2009)
They showed that Anchor Bar on the Food Channel a few times.
While I do make a decent baked buffalo wings as the insist, my fried then dipped wings are pretty decent as well.

    DebtorBasher (11/05/2009)
Pepper...my sister used to go to the Anchor Bar for their wings all the time when we lived in that cement jungle called Buffalo...Don't get me started on Buffalo again! LOL! I'm still hunting down my 6th grade teacher!

    PepperElf (11/05/2009)
i didn't grow up there myself
the driving is psychotic but i will say the malls are better than what i have here.

but the AB wings are good. when I went there last, i had the suicide wings. yum yum yum

    zzrokk (11/05/2009)
Hunt down the teacher for what? A date or your DIPLOMA?! *burn*

    redmx3racer (11/05/2009)
I make pretty good wings-batter them, bake them, fry them, dip them, eat them. The whole batter thing I've been told is not traditional, but I don't care, they are good! The hotter the sauce, the better! BWW makes a mockery of the wing!
Crappy wings added with Neer-Beer in OK-glad I was not there. If it was a hooters maybe-or are hooters even allowed in OK??

    DebtorBasher (11/05/2009)
    Buffalo is sad.
ZZ, I'm hunting him down because I've got unfinished business to tend to with him!
And unlike you, my love...I gradeeated from high-school with a high-school diploma...not 6th grade! *Double burn*

    redmx3racer (11/05/2009)
Deb-I think we can all take that comment the wrong way :)

    DebtorBasher (11/05/2009)
And I'm sure everyone will ... LOL!
Did I mention that was the first MALE teacher I ever had?

    DebtorBasher (11/05/2009)
Wait a minute...I didn't mean, 'Had' as in 'had'...I mean he was the first male teacher that ever taught me...but I don't mean 'taught me' as in 'taught me'...oh heck...think what you want! LOL!

    littleyaya (11/05/2009)
Basher, if he was your 6th grade teacher, then is he still alive?

    DebtorBasher (11/05/2009)
Unless a disgrunted student got to him.
