I have been a Amerigas customer for 6 yrs and this past yr I went on a payment plan! I estimated our usage at 2200 gals for the season so that was a 650.00 first prepayment and 515.00 for the next 10 months Ok, so the 9 months are up my contract is for renewal they tell me that I have gone over my estimation and my final payment will be $4100.00 that included last 2 payments so that means I payed over $7,000.00 last yr to heat my 4,000 sq ft house at $3.09 a gal they are nuts in the 6 yrs I lived here I have never spent more than $4,000 for the whole yr. That said I will be removing there tank myself and finding a more decent company to deal with. I HATE AMERIGAS!!!!!!!!!! our Government should do something about these theives.

you want the government to step in and regulate the economy MORE? a government that can't even handle its own finances properly?

that being said, i'd recommend contacting your local gas company. they often have pamphlets on how to lower your gas prices.

like turning the gas down when no one is home, or at night when you'll be using a blanket anyway.

wearing warmer clothes, putting up draft-blockers in front of doors.

i don't personally turn my heat past 70, unless i've just given blood. normally it's just between 60-65. if i get cold i can wrap up in a blanket or put on sweats or something like that.

so even during the wint... more >>

ya. gas stoves are nice. when i went through a hurricane i had no electricity but i could still cook and have hot baths, cos i had a gas stove.

personally i like what they do here tho - gas/elec combined instead of having 2 separate bills to pay.

Skye & pepper I am not asking the government to control finances but if you know anything about the propane industry it is not regulated! by no agency, very much like the cost of heating oil so they can pretty much do what ever they want with there prices there is no set price like natural gas. It interesting that when I called saying that I was new costumer they were willing to give the propane 1st fill for $2.00 a gallon after that at $2.50.I had a home much the same as this one in a area that supplied natural gas and my total for the yr did not exceed $1500.00, for all of you with your comments try paying over $7,000 a yr to heat your home... more >>
