GRANT Complaint - Collection scam - collection agency

collection agency - Complaint
Review by senior3 on 2009-11-23
SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA -- I'm a senior citizen living on SS.
I made the mistake of getting sick at Chandler AZ. I had some test and a hospital procedger
which cost around $10,000. which I paid off
threw Grant & Weber Arizona. I got a letter saying paid in full. What I didn't know was that there was another bill for $90.00 that they hid from me and didn't contact me on until the interest had the balance of over $1,100.00.
They would not tell me what the $90.00 bill was for. I don't know how many more of these bills they have hiden getting interest that I won't know until they decide to tell me.
How can I besure that this is my last bill????
Do not get sick in Chandler AZ. The Hospital double billed me. My insurance wouldn't pay because of the double billing. So this was out of my own pocket. Grant and the hospital in Chandler are taking advanage of senior citzens that come to vist AZ. What can I do to stop this RIP OFF.

If this is a collection agency...send them a 'validation of debt' request. If you go to my blog, you will find a link with that letter and all you have to do is fill it out and print it. Send it to them Certified WITH Return receipt. They will have to give you all the information regarding the bill within 30 days of receiving the request. When you send the request, be sure to tell them you want 'ALL OUTSTANDING ACCOUNTS VALIDATED'. This way, they will have to give you all information on ALL bills they have for you that are outstanding. Be sure when you get the information on the $90.00/$1100.00 bill, compare it with those you already paid to be sure it isn't a duplicated billing...that does happen at times. Also, contact the hospital and request copies of any outstanding bills you have through them...and keep all correspondence and payment receipts for your records.

How does $90.00 become $1,100.00? The cheapest tool to help is this situation is the multiple flap, metal brad, file folder. I was in an accident last December and by the time I got through with all the letters, statements, bills, etc, the file folder was 3 inches thick. If I had not kept them all in one place, I would never have been able to compare, contrast and review all my bills. It saved me over a $1,000.00 in misbilling.

This hospital bill was from 4 years ago. It took 1 year to pay the $10,000 off with arbitration. So when this $1,100
bill came it was a complete surprise. When I contacted Grant & Weber collection ageny they said this is another bill and the paid in full letter I had didn't matter.
I havn't been to AZ. since 2005. My wife is a ex bookkeeper and she never throws anything away. There is no
hospital bill or doctor bill out standing for around $90.00 from AZ.
Have no idea what kind of interest rate Grant & Weber charge to bring this figure up so high. But I guess AZ. lets them get away with this kind of RIP OFF.
Thanks for the info from DebtorBasher and JR in Orlando.

In that case, it IS best for you to send them a letter validation request...as I said, there is a link on my blog that you can click on to get that letter to fill out.
